What do the Saints do well? Give away leads in the 4th quarter...

I don't consider all of a teams win that came via 4th quarter comebacks as a good thing!

The Saints have the offense to put more points up in the first 3 quarters than the Lions can make up in 1; I like our chances against Detroit.

Circle back to Giants game (blocked fg), Oakland (missed fg for a win) & Denver (blocked PAT & subsequent score). Our kickoff return turn team looks clueless out there. Hightower and Cadet have no awareness on returns.

McMahon should have been fired last year.

And Morstead got hurt because our player was pushed into him. He was hit on almost every punt.

This is the same exact thing that happen in the last 2 seasons, started poorly, got to .500, finished 7-9. Why expect anything different?

The defense is better. 5 sacks, two turnovers, and the stops needed to put the Saints in a position to win all happened today.
Giving up only 23 points with 4 turnovers by the offense is encouraging.

Honestly more than anything else this game was a "Welcome to the NFL Rookie" moment for Michael Thomas. What he learns and how he rebounds from it will be telling about the kid's character.

Also Atlanta lost.

Disappointed? Sure. discouraged? Not quite yet.

Taking out Carolina Thursday can more than make up for this loss.

We lost to an AFC team; virtually no tie-breaking implications

I don't think we play a team as good defensively, (possible exception is Cardinals) the rest of the season.

We are one game out of 2nd place; after we sweep out the litter box Thursday night we will be back at .500 and in second place.

I don't remember any additional injuries that look like they will be long term.

Was this game winnable; absolutely, but aren't all of them?

I'm with you here. I keep saying the real key games will be against the Panthers and Lions games if the Saints are to make it to a wild card spot. Unfortunately one of those key games is an away game on Thursday night.

Too early to discuss the wild card. Nothing has changed from last week where the Saints control their own destiny in terms of the division. There are only two teams at this moment we need to have any concerns about: The Saints and Atlanta. The Saints have two jobs in terms of playoffs:

1. Win all division games.
2. Remain no more than 1 game back in the loss column in respect to Atlanta.

Right this second the Saints only need to accomplish 1 thing to meet both goals: BEAT CAROLINA THURSDAY!

When the Saints Win on Thursday, they have absolutely nothing to worry about for the next 10 days. Presuming the Saints can sweep Carolina, which will put them completely in the Saints rear view mirror, the Saints will be one game back in the overall loss column and even in the division loss column with the Falcons.

I feel the need to be blunt. If the Saints down the stretch cannot do what it takes to win the South, then there really should not be any discussion of playoffs anyway because if the Saints cannot take care of Carolina, TB, and Atlanta, then nothing else matters.

Special teams coach has to go. Our ST unit has been making way too many costly mistakes and it finally bit them on the tush this time. Painful and disgusting to see a team battle through 4 turnovers and get a PAT not only blocked, but returned all the way to sneak out with a win.

one of the toughest losses in recent memory. Not since the River City Relay has a final extra point been so heart breaking.
