Read this you guys, these are the altered rulea for the 2016 season

Goal/Extra Point Rush Tactics

Game officials will monitor and strictly enforce the rules pertaining to illegal acts committed by the defensive team while trying to block field-goal and extra-point attempts during the 2016 season, including:

Making forcible contact below the waist of offensive blockers.
Grabbing an offensive blocker and pulling him to the side or toward the ground to create space or a gap for a teammate to rush through.
Using the hands or other parts of the body to push off an offensive blocker to gain leverage in an effort to block the kick.

If you scroll up a little on the thread, you'll see where I cited the NFL rule that was violated along with the link...

Here's a close-up video of the defensive holding with the Umpire (No. 102) clearly able, and unwilling, to pull the flag and make the call...

NOTICE that No. 93 holds down Drescher allowing the linebacker to leap over; in fact, the linebacker buoys his balance against No. 93's helmet which is also, technically, a penalty...

Blandino has been on the radio defending the call all day. You can push the lineman down, you just can't pull him. He equates it to that of an o-lineman...push is ok, pull is a hold.

I think more should be put on our special teams coach. Film on Denver doing this was out there, shame on us for not being prepared.

Oh and I think it was mentioned before but we turned the ball over 4 times. That's what got us beat.

Granted, I know it's in slow motion, but when I look at that video above, I see one team that is going through the motions, phoning it in, like the extra point was a gimme formality in the Pro Bowl and it didn't really matter, and I see another team playing with heart and passion and fire, jumping in to try and make a play to turn the balance of the game and WIN. Away from the block, just look at the push and the leaping on the left side of the Broncos and how there's pretty much no physicality to the Saints line there at all, like they're just expecting to lightly tap pads and go home. Watch it again from any angle you like, and look at the difference in energy level between the two teams. That's why it happened one time earlier in the year, and that's why the WHOLE CITY should be calling for McMahon's resignation/firing right now. The special teams unit is poorly coached and it's costing us games.

Put yourself in a position to lose and you'll usually succeed.

4 turnovers. End of story.

Totally, totally agree - Payton and the Saints are in the rarest of moments this season in finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - these are games that just in no way should be lost in these extraordinary means...

I'm just calling total BS on the League and Blandino for actually defending botching this call and not admitting they got it wrong...

Leave the # of challenges where they are, but a coach could challenge a holding, or PI; call look at all the times we complain about Jordan being held. If the refs missed a holding call on Jordan, for example, and the result of the play is a critical 1st down or a touchdown, wouldn't you want SP to have the ability to challenge that?

There is holding on every play. We can't stop the game for a non call. But for a bad call that could change the game....hell yeah.:dunce:
