Broncos game-winning block against Saints may have been illegal

First, it appears that defensive ends Jared Crick and Adam Gotsis held down the Saints’ long snapper, allowing Simmons to jump over the line. Making contact like that with the snapper before he lifts his head is illegal.

Never too late to complain; just too late to do anything about it!

This is why coaches should be allowed to challenge any plays!

This was no doubt a "rehearsed" special team's move by the Broncos. They knew it was illegal, but exactly what did they have to lose? If they got flagged for the violation the Saints would line up and kick it again. Moving the ball 10 yds closer wouldn't improve the percentages a great deal, but if they got away with the violation it could alter the outcome of the game. And they did, and it did, and it's done.
Payton & our Special Teams coach should've recognized this immediately and called a referee huddle instead of concentrating on a sideline issue that couldn't be proven. I think it was Bill Cowher, I'm not sure, but one of the after game analyst said there is film of the Broncos doing this same exact move in previous games. Why was our field goal unit not ready for this?

Challenge any play? The game would be 5 hours long. It is what it is.

On to Carolina.

I watch the play numerous of time and # 93 intentionally held the center down so # 31 Justin Simmons who have a 40' inch vertical and 126 broad jump can be clear to jump over the center. #93 wasn't lined up over the center so I don't have a clue if it is legal or illegal but I do know that this was designed by their special team coach. I am 100% sure #34 parks ran out of bounds, it's not like his right foot shrunk cause his shoe is white. These refs are now refusing to reverse any calls even with replay.

The more I look at it, the odds of the one of the two Denver players out of 11 wearing white shoes picked up the fumble, the other 9 was wearing orange cleats.

I am just not at all surprised that we are the 1st loss of this kind.
We seem to find a way to break new ground.
For them to pull that off, many stars had to line up just right...and they did.
From the Brees-to-Cooks ecstasy to the block-scoop agony within 2 minutes.
I've had to walk out of the dome after those kind...
and then drive home 5 1/2 hours...

Did I say coaches give coaches unlimited challenges?

Leave the # of challenges where they are, but a coach could challenge a holding, or PI; call look at all the times we complain about Jordan being held. If the refs missed a holding call on Jordan, for example, and the result of the play is a critical 1st down or a touchdown, wouldn't you want SP to have the ability to challenge that?
