this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; They are working on the long term deal to be able to trade him. That protects Dallas. If they trade for him without the deal, he becomes their 7.8 million dollar problem, and not ours. If it\'s not done by ...

Darren Howard WEDNESDAY Countdown Thread
Saw this on another message board so it is just rumor.
Don\'t shoot the messenger!! I have no way of checking the facts, but at both the NO and D newspaper leak forums, they are both mentioning that DAT is back on the table and went as far as to say that DAT is on his way to NO for a physical. The rumor is now that it will be DAT and a 2nd this year. Dallas will use one of there 1st rounders to trade down to get a 2nd and 3rd round pick and focus on getting a Bigger sized MLB. IF this is true, and I hope it is..... I think that it would be fair to both sides. Dallas would still have there 2 1st rounders to get what they want and get a proven pass rushing, QB intimidating DE that they have not had since the 90s. NO will get a proven run stopper(albeit small), who has the vision of a true MLB and a great on the field play caller and leader and have 2 2nd rounders to scoop up some of those BPA guys who slip into the 2nd round. Then with our 1st rounder we can get a shut down corner. |

Darren Howard WEDNESDAY Countdown Thread
UGH... this is thread is starting to be a repeat of mondays!
3pm Deadline was for Howard to sign the damn franchise tender which he signed on Monday! He is a 7.8 million dollar hit in this years pot. If he didn\'t sign the deadline would make him a RFA any team signing him by the rules would forfeit 2 first round draft picks to the Saints for signing a marked player unles the Saints and said team worked out a deal. THe Saints can trade him at anytime now... they just can\'t negociate a long term deal until July 15th. Now this is important... if the Saints work a trade including Howard that team has 24 hours to negociate a long term deal with HOWARD or they can pass on the trade or take him on despite a long-term contract. I just used that sign because you\'re post seemed so completely out of place that it struck me as strange, and I\'ve wanted to use it for a long time. Looking again, I guess it does seem rude, so I\'ll edit it. |
