Kenny Vaccaro didn’t realize taking Adderall was against rules
 

Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro apologized for letting down his teammates, but admitted he didn’t realize he was doing something against the rules when he took Adderall, failed a PED test and was suspended for four games.

Vaccaro told Mike Triplett of ESPN.com that he wasn’t trying to take the stimulant for performance-enhancing reasons, unless you mean trying to enhance his weekend. He said he took it during the Saints bye weekend, when he was in Dallas watching his brother play in the Texas-Oklahoma game.

You know that for sure? I would venture to bet that the majority of young NFL players don't know the entirety of rules. These kids just want to play.

Bullcrap. There isn't a head coach in the NFL that monitors what players know about drug policies. That is so low level. But, yes, it is the player's job to know, but I am sure many, if not most, are only concerned with maximizing doing what they can do on the field to remain on the roster. These are kids. I have sons older.

You are a coach in the NFL? How the F do you know? Man you pretend to know a lot about things you have absolutely no idea about.

If the rules are that confusing and difficult to follow it is the coaches job to make sure his players are not getting suspended and are on the field. Low energy needs to do a better job making sure his players are informed so they can be on the field like they're supposed to.

Oh wait, NM, he is suspended because it is the Adderall's fault.

I mean, that is the only acceptable excuse for not knowing if what you put in your body is allowed or not.

I've played for 15 years and have gotten tested atleast once every year by the Swedish sports federation (WADA rules). I am an amateur and nowhere near getting paid, I have a regular job and manage to spend all my spare time on football. Still I find the time and interest to check all the WADA lists before I take a supplement or even a damn aspirin. Under the WADA rules any infractions carries a standard 2-year suspension.

There is NO ****ING EXCUSE for putting anything in your body without knowing what it is.

Ask any college kid knows what adderall is and he knew. Sorry you've been out of the loop but adderall and it's affects are well known by a huge number of people. He knew, you can defend your boy all you want( and you will) but he knew what he took and got his a$$ caught.

And my thing Halloween is this, if he really didn't know then whose fault is that? I would find it extremely hard to believe that when the NFL sends down its list of banned substances they don't share that with the players and make sure they understand.

So either it is his fault or the fault of low energy. There really is no in-between

He was good his first season, I thought we had something then he played pathetic for 2 then this year it was the adderall and you can actually say he's one of our best players, you and Mickey need to stick to the numbers. I'm hoping we draft Peppers and let the adderall king go.

I can't see Payton knowing after the viocidin scandle and I think Payton should look down on this because of the viocidin fiasco. But Vaccarro knew that adderall was pure pharmacuitical speed and the effects it brings when taken. What he spewed out of his pie hole was PR bull acting like he was the victim.

If he didn't know then it shows that he doesn't pay attention. He played better this year and was caught taking Adderall when he had great games. Each front office needs to provide a list to each player about what they can and can't put in their body. This doesn't fall on the coach as much as the player and then the front office.

I don't know which one of his teammates is the union rep but I'm sure he's annoyed that Vacarro made him look like he didn't do his job informing them of this stuff.

I seriously doubt the team rep would give a rat's ass. The suspension was served, the season is over and it is all behind them. The media and a few fans are making this out to be anything of note at this time.

Yeah he knew. No way he didn't. No way. Multiple players have been repremanded for using this stuff. It's his fault. It's not Payton's (as much as Spike wants it to be lol).

I like Vaccaro. He was having a great season too. I hope he's re-signed. I think he's one of our better defenders. He's not a game changer, but neither is anyone else on our defense.
