Draft - who will be gone
Inspired by this thread from last year: 2004 Draft I wonder if we can agree on who will most likely NOT be available at pick 16:
(by position, not a mock of any kind) 1. Alex Smith, QB 2. Aaron Rodgers, QB 3. Ronnie Brown, RB 4. Cadillac Williams, RB 5. Cedric Benson, RB 6. Braylon Edwards, WR 7. Mike Williams, WR 8. Alex Barron, OT 9. Derrick Johnson, LB 10. Antrel Rolle, CB 11. Pac Man Jones, CB Everybody else might well be there when the Saints pick. Who might slip? Who should be included on that list? |

Draft - who will be gone
good no chance list. i would only give pacman any odds of falling from that list if things shook out right. there is a very remote chance one of the qb\'s could too.
there is a block of de\'s that could be around but that is of no interest. williamson or clayton? not this year. heath miller might be good but might as well go for the wr then. thomas davis could be there but word is this fo doesnt go for him. beyond the droppers my order of preference today if all were available : 1. jammal brown 2. trade down 3. travis johnson 4. carlos rogers 5. justin miller 6. marlin jackson 7. trade down dammit no linebacker outside of dj deserves to go above #20 #16 pick matches up well with the eagles #31 and #35 valuewise. #31, 35, 40 would be even more fun- a top 4 linebacker, a top 5 corner, and another, perhaps a dt or ot. heck, even have an andrew walter party maybe. oh, oh, #42 from dallas, we gottem all! I think that marlin and justin miller will be there in the second...and I htink that they are just as good as the top three cb\'s.
Linebakers I\"m interested in early are: Ruud...this guy is supposed to be football savy and a great guy to have in the locker room. supposedly he is a can\'t miss kinda player and will be gone by new englands pick. in the scond I\'d like to pick up: adam terry or luis castillo...along with a top corner (though if we didn\'t i wouldn\'t be too sad) in the third I\'d like wesly britt or a wideout. basically it is really up to how many picks we have early. |

Baronm what is this semi-homo infatuation with Ruud? Every post I\'ve seen of your\'s has his name in it. Do you know something we don\'t?

1, we need linebackers
2. we need character 3. we need intelligence ruud displays all three of those qulaties and is pretty darn good in his combine results as well as his play on the feild. right now he is the only linebacker other than derrick johnson that doesn\'t have major question marks about him and can possibly step up to play right away. I just really feel that he is a can\'t miss/safe pick type player based on everything I\'m reading online and then having watched nebraska in some of their games this year he reallly stood out. that, and I\'m scared to hell we will get someone with major questionmarks like travis johnson or stretch to take some one like webster..who with a second is a good pick up, but after seeing auburn and miss state throw at him-is not really a player I want. |

Draft - who will be gone
i\'d prefer to see an outside linebacker myself. all the more so with dat onboard. everyone has crowder at the top of the inside guys but i have trouble seeing past his 5 knee operations. #16 is too high for him ayway and he\'ll be gone by #40. most have odell thurman next on the inside (hey, from georgia too LOL). some even have mccune ahead of ruud.
get on the blackstock or boley olb train for the 2nd round if they are still around. burnett gone fo sho. demarcus ware is up there too. |

The only player in the draft that is a can\'t miss has to be D. Johnson out of Texas. I hear that our FO does not like him much as an lb. So I am sure he will be the next L. Taylor.

Draft - who will be gone
Barrett Ruud College: Nebraska Height: 6-2 Position: Inside Linebacker Weight: 240 Class: Senior 40-Yard: 4.65 Strengths: Has a motor that never quits...Good size...Should run well in workouts...Great instincts...Fiery and a team leader...Has a ton of experience and has been very productive...Smart and can be another coach on the field. Weaknesses: Not an incredible pure athlete, even though he has good timed speed...Doesn\'t change direction well...Poor agility...Needs to get stronger. Notes: Father Tom was a 1st Round Pick by the Buffalo Bills in 1975...Top linebacker prospect with just about everything you look for...Should be able to make an impact very early on in his pro career. - Scott Wright This is the exact kind of LB the Patriots would draft. |
