I want the answer. I want the truth. I\"m 23 years old. That\'s 23 years of pain. That\'s 23 years of suffering. That\'s 23 years of being a Saints fan. Can someone out there tell me why after all these years the Saints haven\'t made a deep playoff run?
A deep playoff run requires all cylinders to be clicking and a bit of luck. The Saints have never had both going on together.

I\'ve never expected them to win a Super Bowl, I\'m not asking for miracles. I have no delusions. But is too much to ask for them to win a few playoff games? To make it to the NFC championship at least? If the Cubs can make it to game 7 of the NLCS and the Red Sox can win the World Series, why can\'t the Saints make a playoff run?
Asked and answered.

What\'s the answer. What\'s the reason? A curse? Bad coaching, bad players, bad owners?
All of the above along with generally poor general managership (except for Finks and
possibly Mueller)

I\'ve been a Saints fan for 23 years. If you cut my arm, my blood would be balck and gold. For 23 years I\'ve watched them destroy the hopes and dreams of a nation of Saints fans. I thank God that I cant remember the first four or five of my 23 years. I take comfort in the fact that there are alot of old poor souls that have lived through this pain alot longer than I have.
I was a season ticket holder from the age of 7 until I went off to college. I pay my $185 a year for the priviledge to watch them and got to see the last two Falcon butt whuppings
in person

I know where you\'re coming from.

Can one of you older seasoned vets give me the answer. Can one of you tell me why the Saints are doomed to failure no matter how good a team they have? I want your answers and I want to know the reason that we all keep rooting for a team that may never reach the promised land.
Our best chances was in the DOme Patrol early 90s. Best defense in the league. Not enough offense to sustain.

Poor defense is the problem now. We could go somewhere if we could get it to the middle of the pack.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

\"The Superdome is built on a graveyard. Bad Karma.\"

\"The Saints are run by the New Orleans Mafia. They will never win as long as all that money is on the line for them to lose.\"
** The franchise gets an additional subsidy when sporting non-winning records. This is to maintain competitiveness in a weak market, courtesy of Baton Rouge.**

That\'s unsbustantied, and I don\'t believe it. They get the one subsidy only, which is well publicized, regardless of W/L ratio. Until someone proves otherwise, I\'ll continue to disbelive it.

But then you asked for theories, and this is one I\'ve heard before....

I have been a fan for about 3-4 years now(but will stick with them, only 15 right now, so will be a Saints fan until I die... or they move) You always hear about voodoo, and bad karma from there. But I believe, and I have stated this before, is that players just don\'t want to come here anymore. Like, look at the endings with Turley and Ricky, bot hended and they got very public too. And even though they both showed the rest of the world how they truly are, they still probably think the saints coulda treated it different.

That\'s a very good point zach. If I were a free agent and I had to pick between two teams, one of those teams a winner year in and year out, and the other a team with talent but never wins anything, I would most definitely choose the winner. That is of course if the winning team offered more money. If the losers offered more money then I would surely go there. If both teams offered the same amount, I would get my agent to pit the two teams against each other in a bidding war. Then I would sign the highest offer, unless a third team jumped in the mix and offered more than what I was about to agree to.

I feel so purty when you woo me like that! I might have to put off marrying my cousin just to spend more time with you. That is, if B&B won\'t get jealous......
