Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
1 Attachment(s)
Sterling Moore was one of the best acquisitions the New Orleans Saints made in 2016, but there's no guarantee he'll return for 2017.
Although Moore has expressed interest in re-signing with the Saints, he's expected to test his value on the free-agent market when the new league year begins Thursday at 3 p.m. http://image.nola.com/home/nola-medi...434-mmmain.jpg Moore joined the Saints in September after injuries ravaged the team's cornerback group, and his 12 starts were the most of any player at the position. He also led the team with 13 passes defensed, caught two interceptions and made 56 tackles. read more on NOLA |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Sterling is solid depth at the position. Please get this man resigned in New Orleans.

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Can't blame him; he had a career year.
Still, I don't see him as a starter on too many teams. Rotoworld: Free agent CB Sterling Moore wants to re-sign with the Saints. He says the interest is mutual. Signed just ahead of Week 1 as depth, Moore ended up leading all Saints corners in snaps and received the best coverage grade of the group from Pro Football Focus, though he was still 71st in the league among 120 qualifiers. Moore won't command much on the open market. Feb 22 - 10:55 AM |

Me: Sterling Moore was our best CB last season!
Loomis: We're gonna let him test free agency. Me: https://media0.giphy.com/media/l3q2K...oCLS/giphy.gif |

Let him take a few phone calls and set the market. With our high-draft-pick-MASH-unit secondary, I'd love him to stay. I just think that not a lot of teams are looking for a 5'10" journeyman CB from the worst pass defense in the league |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
This is a guy we nabbed off the couch last year. I'm just sayin'

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
I'm not a Sterling Moore fan... if we don't resign him I won't lose any sleep...

At worst Sterling is a good #3 and solid depth. |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
All in all he stayed healthy and played well thats alot more than I can say for the rest of the glass cb.'s we have, I would definatly resign him.

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
I would like to see him resigned at the right price, but, keep in mind, he was the best of a group of bad cornerbacks.
|
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
I have no interest in keeping Sterling Moore. He's 5'10". He played fairly well this season, but there's too much depth in the draft and free agency to be worried about a journeyman. We need big, fast, and physical corners who excel in bump and run so we can get pressure on the quarterback. Sterling Moore shouldn't be prioritized whatsoever.

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
He will get signed after the draft. My guess is, probably back with the Saints.
|
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Loomis will let the market set his value and then decide if through free agency and any plans in the draft they will retain him through training camp. We can't have too many CB's min camp......I'm mean we've got 90 players. 10 of them need to be corners.

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
all quiet on this front
with all of the available talent out there it's bad year to be Moore |

He should be brought back after he realizes his worth. He played good in his role and spent a year in the system. #4 or # 5 cb. He would be great depth for a team that looses 4-5 a year |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
I don't have a problem signing him back to be a good #4 option we have on the roster behind players on IR and what we are going to draft.
If he does leave... compensatroy pick??? |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Loomis you need to resign him.
|
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Sign him. Our corners were terrible and he was the only one that was half way decent. He was signed off the street and played hard for us. I don't care about his height or weight. This kid deserves another shot. Besides, it's not like we have our starting corners right now. Breaux was injured and played weird when he actually came back. Williams is a wild card that can't stay off the injury list. Crawley is...Idk... Crawley.
Moore was a good corner for us last year. He was the only stability we had. Yes he shouldn't be starting, but he's good insurance. |

We won't lose even one player to offset Klein or Warford. This is the year to keep signing |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
We needed CB, we can't loose CB. Sign him.

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Happy with this.
A bit of leverage with the Pats and im hoping it means we wait till Butler is a FA. Wait till the 3rd round during the draft and other the Pats a 3 and future conditional for him |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
If we can avoid our top 6 CB's getting injured for the season again, we might have a very good unit.
|
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Some may not want to believe this but that was a very important signing.
Glad Sterling re signed with New Orleans. |

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Know some disagree with me and will respond with the "I" word...
But I really liked our CBs of Del Breaux and P.J. Williams and feel we need to be patient and let it all gel; with Sterling Moore in the slot, we'll have a formidable CB trio... Pass Rush and Free Safety were our issues last season... |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Since he's resigned I'd be very upset if we give the 32 back to NE. Butler is an attractive add, but at the right price. A 1st doesn't help us IMO. As stated by others, he won't be affective if we can't put pressure on the QB.

Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Adds quality depth. Moore will be better this year. Now get Butler and DE, CB and LB with the 1st 3 picks in the draft and we'll be ok on defense. If O and KI can stay healthy and get with the program damn this could be a good year. I think the Saints are going to draft a QB at 11 and my vote goes to Trubisky.

If we draft a qb at 11 imma be super pissed. None of them are good enough to be drafted that early imo. Draft a game changing de at 11 not someone who is gonna sit for a year or two. |

Ok... I will... Trubisky may be gone... QB PICK AT #11 or 32 PATRICK MAHOMES Texas Tech? Face it... Brees isn't going to last forever.... If you're a quarterback in Texas running the spread attack that is prevalent throughout the state, playing for Texas Tech is a natural fit. The son of the former major league pitcher of the same name has a big-league arm, and used it quite a bit in high school (4,619 yards, 50 TDs as a senior) and more than anyone else in college football the past two seasons. Mahomes began his career by starting the Red Raiders' final four games his true freshman year (1,547 yards, 16 TDs, four INTs, 56.8 completion percentage), one of those games being a 598-yard, six-touchdown effort against a top-10 team in Baylor. He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 notice for the second straight year in 2015, starting every game and leading the FBS with 393 yards of total offense per game (4,653 yards, 36 TDs, 15 INTs, 63.5 completion pct). Mahomes was a second-team all-conference pick in his final year with Tech in 2016, leading the FBS with 421 passing yards per game (5,052 total, 41 TDs, 10 INTs, 65.7 completion pct). He's also been a threat with his big-bodied frame and strong legs the past three years, scoring 22 times on the ground. http://www.texasfootball.com/wp-cont...Da1TgtUb-2.gif ON VIDEO - EVERY FREAKING PASS COMPLETED IS A TD. Someone is going to get a HELL OF A QB... |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
I'd be concerned, but wouldn't be that upset if we took Trubiskey, assuming he'd even fall to us at No. 11...
I would be upset though if we didn't use at least three of our next picks (R1/32, R2/42, R3/74, R3/103) to improve the defense, specifically the pass rush, though... |
Re: Saints CB Sterling Moore expected to test free-agent market
Moore was a good signing, and at least they're addressing the positions (or trying to) we have been complaining about on here. They're trying to get better. I would personally bring Jhari back for the right price. He had a solid season last year and with armstead and his injuries being uncertain it would allow us to still have two solid guards while swinging Peat out left when needed. Jhari is better than both of the other backups and unless Turner makes a drastic turn this year then I'd try to keep him for the right price
