That's a great idea and it will benefit a team to take it BUT what will the offer be? Hopefully, the Texans offer a 4th and 6th.

Hard to believe no one wanted to move up, or did the Saints even try??? Even for a 7th round pick in the 2021 draft, or something???

The Patriots knew this would happen so they got rid of a pick they would have never had in the first place, smart move by them and a rather idiotic move by us.

What else is new on the Mickey & Sean show?

Why idiotic? If that was the only way they were going to make the deal then it had to happen. The Saints got as much as they could for Cooks in an attempt to improve the defense. Could it have been better? Yes, but only if the Patriots were willing to make it better, which they obviously weren't. Besides, what difference does it make to the Saints what happens to the pick they moved as part of the deal? It certainly makes no difference whatsoever in my mind.

I'm not so sure that the Saints got all they could for Cooks, when they still had a month, or so, before the draft. This seemed like an awful quick trigger on a not so good deal.

It doesn't speak well of our front office when they get fleeced on deals while other teams are making out on their deals. The Titans, whether or not they ever win again, have gotten huge value in trade deals the last couple of years. It seems to me that if you stand your ground long enough, teams will crack, if they really want a player or draft pick bad enough. The Saints have a propensity to cave in on contract demands and trades. Not every time (I liked what they did on the first day of free agency a lot, aside from Ginn, who I am indifferent about), but far too often. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: These guys keep getting free passes because of that Superbowl. That was an awesome accomplishment. But I think there would be a lot more wide spread criticism for how things have played out since then, if not for that championship.

At least they did make a couple of nice moves the other day, including finally getting some guard help.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

First of all, they were facing a deadline of Cooks' roster bonus, $781,599, which would have taken affect today. Now New England is responsible for it.

Secondly, they didn't get fleeced. They got what the market would bear. Cooks is going to be demanding a huge contract soon and his importance to the Saints offense wasn't worth it. No team other than the Patriots were willing to deal with that factor. The Saints got an additional first rounder with a fifth year option and moved up at least 15 spots from the 4th to the 3rd.

Re: Saints can get something before sending 4th pick to NE.

Why where the front office stupid for that

Yes they could have made another trade but that means moving backwards in round 4 to maybe get a 5th or 6th rounder

How stupid would you look on draft night if someone fell to that pick and you missed them. There is nothing stopping them doing the same trade back and gaining picks in draft night.

So what the Pats now dont loose there early 4th rounder. We have the comp pick in round 3.

I dont get this whinging that Oh the Saints have made the Pats better. When you have not got out the division in 3 years thats the first focus

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Some people simply want something gripe and moan about, lee. There doesn't have to be anything pertaining to logic involved.
