NFL network mock draft.
1) #11--- mccaffrey- rb Stanford
1) #32---trubisky- qb NC So I know they are smoking crack with this mock but how would you feel if the saints made these picks? |
Re: NFL network mock draft.
I love the idea of getting McCaffrey but at this point in time, if the Saints use the #11 on an offensive player, I'm gonna be disappointed no matter who it is.
In their mock, the Saints skip on Ruben Foster. I just can't see that happening. Jeremiah mock draft 3.0: Chargers, Saints get QB successors - NFL.com |

Christian is a luxury pick.
Saints desperately need defensive help. Especially at pick #11. If Reuben falls to us, there is no way I'm passing on him. |
Re: NFL network mock draft.
actually the worst mock draft I have ever seen... Literally...
Who the **** are these guys, glad I stopped watching main stream sports networks... Geez |

Re: NFL network mock draft.
I believe we should draft the best player available, but given the state of this team, I would say the BDPA (best defensive player available) for the first 3 rounds.
There are some nice-looking RB's in this draft, but to be honest we could fill that spot with a good budget free agent signing or two, rookie or someone that shakes loose from another team. WR I hope we can find a young gym rat type like Chris Hogan or Wes Welker. The kind of guy that we haven't had since Lance Moore. |
Re: NFL network mock draft.
Yes if Foster falls to us... I can't see leaving him on the board.

Somebody is going to nail it. Think I have seen us pick every player except a QB in these mock drafts.

We likely do but the 1st RD, difficult to gauge. What is killing us is no QB's or WR's going early. Then Cook dropped way down the list. Defenders are getting pilfered early. It feels like what is available at 11 should be going later. Going offense might not be a bad thing at 11. |
Re: NFL network mock draft.
FWIW, Daniel Jeremiah's first "mock" for 2016 had us taking Mackenzie Alexander with our first pick (MA went in the 2nd).
A lot of his mock selections are way off base. |
Re: NFL network mock draft.
No way mccaffrey is a top 15 pick and we have no starters at cb i dont think breaux will bonuce back, no free safety im not sold on bell either. He is smoking some good stuff.

I believe pj will but he will be one bad concussion away from being out of the league. That play was brutal but breaux played timid when he came back, rankins had the same injury but played fearless so i wouldn't blame the injury. As for bell as highly touted as a instinctive player while at osu he was just like someone else most ppl on here bad mouth including me stephone anthony was always a liability in coverage. And what about budda baker or that obi guy from uconn both should be there in the second round. |

Jeff Duncan's 2017 Saints Mock Draft 3.0
Updated March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 33 shares 165 Comment undefined Analyzing the Saints' draft game plan The New Orleans Saints' 2017 draft became a lot more interesting after the trade for Brandin Cooks, which netted the club an extra first-round pick (No. 32 overall) and third-round pick (No. 103). The Saints now have five of the first 103 picks in one of the deepest drafts in years. Here’s how I think the first 10 picks will go: Browns: DE Myles Garrett, Texas A&M 49ers: DT Jonathan Allen, Alabama Bears: DE Solomon Thomas, Stanford Jaguars: FS Malik Hooker, Ohio State Titans: SS Jamal Adams, LSU Jets: RB Leonard Fournette, LSU Chargers: CB Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State Panthers: RB Dalvin Cook, Florida State Bengals: ILB Reuben Foster, Alabama Bills: QB DeShaun Watson, North Carolina What that in mind, here's how I see the Saints' draft taking shape: Charles Rex Arbogast Round 1 (No. 11 overall): Defensive End Taco Charlton, Michigan The Saints will have plenty of options if they stay at No. 11 but I don’t think they can pass up Charlton. We all know pass rush is the Saints’ greatest need and this selectin could come down to a choice between Charlton vs. Derek Barnett. Barnett is more consistent and productive. Charlton is more athletic and precocious. Tough call but Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis are naturally aggressive and the ceiling for Charlton is greater than Barnett’s. The 6-5, 277-pound Charlton has tremendous size and has been compared to Justin Tuck and Chandler Jones. The Saints would gladly take that kind of talent alongside Cameron Jordan, Sheldon Rankins and Nick Fairley. I also loved this comment from an NFL scout about Charlton in The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “Loved by his teammates and loves the game of football." MLive.com Round 1 (32): Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Texas Tech I know what you’re thinking: Defense?! The Saints need defensive help not a backup quarterback, you idiot! I get it. But this pick is a luxury item and the Saints can afford to use it as such. Mahomes might be the most talented quarterback prospect in the draft and the Saints have to start thinking about Brees’ eventual replacement. There’s an advantage to taking Mahomes in Round 1 instead of waiting until Round 2. First-round picks receive five-year contracts compared to four-year deals for second-rounders. In the Saints’ case, the extra year would be invaluable, allowing the club to keep Brees around for the foreseeable future and groom Mahomes as the heir apparent. David J. Phillip, AP Round 2 (42): Cornerback Fabian Moreau, UCLA Moreau is one of the fastest risers in the draft and he very well might be off the board at this point. The Saints could also consider a linebacker or even another pass rusher at this spot. In fact, I considered edge rushers Tim Willams and T.J. Watt here and wouldn’t argue with the Saints taking any one of them because, like cornerbacks, you can never have enough good pass rushers. Michael Conroy, AP Round 3: (76): Defensive end Jordan Willis, Kansas State As noted above, you can never have enough pass rushers and Willis is one of the best in the draft. The 6-4, 255-pound Willis is a different kind of player than Charlton and would give the Saints another pass rusher for sub-packages in passing situations. Willis was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after leading his team with 17.5 tackles for loss and topping the conference with 11.5 sacks. Willis is essentially a younger version of Darryl Tapp and would fill his situational role in passing situations. Charlie Riedel, AP Round 3 (103): Tight end Jake Butt, Michigan Butt is an extremely productive player at a position where the Saints could use a youth transfusion. At Michigan, Butt was voted a captain and considered a leader on and off the field. He would give the Saints depth and flexibility at a key position in Sean Payton's offense. Rob Schumacher, AP Round 6 (196) Linebacker Jordan Evans, Oklahoma Evans is a bit of a sleeper. He wasn’t invited to the Combine but opened eyes by running a time of 4.51 seconds at the Oklahoma Pro Day, an impressive time for a 6-2, 232-pounder. He led the Sooners in tackles (98) and interceptions (four), including two returned for scores. Bryan Terry, NewsOK.com Round 7 (229): Wide receiver Krishawn Hogan, Marian Hogan is the kind of late-round sleeper the Saints love to draft. He dominated at NAIA Marian, where he set school records for career receptions (263), touchdowns (42) and yards (4,395) in three seasons. At 6-2, 225 with 4.5 speed, he has the physical tools to play in the NFL but is raw. In the Saints’ system, he’d have time to develop and could become a later-round discovery. He’s one of the most intriguing stories in the draft and well worth the sixth round investment. |

To be honest i have little faith in any of our curret CB staying healthy and really worry about having to pay Breaux big money in the coming years with the injury risk involved

Re: NFL network mock draft.
NO RB's in round 1 maybe 3 but not 1. Ruben Fosters stock has plummeted since his go to the corner incident at the combine. He will be a definite problem for any team. I would love Trubisky but he won't be there at #32. I still think we go DE and OL if we get Butler and retain Sterling.

I want Solomon Thomas, Adams or lattimore. At 11. If they get one of those three I will be Thrilled. Conley, white, Cunningham or baker at 32. We are desperate for a cb, safety and a de.

Re: NFL network mock draft.
Provided any of them are available, I'd like to see the Saints take either Rueben Foster, Derek Barnett or Jamal Adams at #11.
Adams is most unlikely to fall there, but he has the chance to be a truly elite Safety, who provides great run support as well as excellent pass coverage. Vaccaro is solid back there, but Adams would be hard to pass up. It would take a weird series of events for him to fall to us, though. Barnett has the best chance of providing us that much needed edge rusher at that slot, in my opinion. If they took McCaffrey there, I would become an alcoholic... Not really, but I would be most displeased, indeed. |
Re: NFL network mock draft.
I could see them doing these kind of stupid picks a couple three years ago. But all of these new folks their and the really good offseason moves -including the Cooks trade- is renewing my faith. I'm actually looking forward to the draft this year. And I did survive the aneurism I suffered at the SJB pick. But just in case, I'm gonna cut out coffee and keep away from the kids starting a couple of days before the draft to make certain my stress level starts out reeeeaaally low.

I could see the McCaffrey pick...
Trubiskey isn't getting passed Chicago and here's why - Chicago ownership once a marketable face and with a name like Trubiskey, Chicago, Hello? Trubiskey may be rated between 10 and 20, but when a franchise QB is there, the Bears won't have this opportunity again... And that's assuming the 49ers don't nab Mitchell first... |

As for pick 11, the player I want is Reuben Foster. However, we might not need him anymore. I suppose it depends on how our front office views him. Is he a MLB, SLB, or WLB? Evidently we view A.J. Klein as our starting MLB, so who becomes the odd man out? I'd love to have the kid though. I think he's going to be a star that we regret missing out on. So we need pass rush. I like Derek Barnett. I like Charles Harris. I like T.J. Watt in the 2nd round. I think he could play 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB, so I view him as a DE due to our system. It's probably imperative we grab one of those three guys. The draft can't get here soon enough. |
