I saw speculated somewhere that New England's #32 pick is essentially a placeholder for Malcolm Butler because we couldn't get him included in the Cooks trade in time. We would send it back to them for Butler so when all is said and done it would be Cooks+4th rounder for Butler+3rd rounder.

Not at all. The guy is not worth the money or picks. If he was, why wouldn't the Pats just sign him to a deal like Gilmore instead of Gilmore? Probably could have gotten him cheaper. Stay away.

The Patriots are good in many ways and they have a system that has worked very well.
They are not infallible Loomis is not dumb . The Patriots are in a similar position that the Saints were in with Cooks Butler wants More Money this year. At most we swap the 32nd pick. I think that we will have some other picks involved in that case not sure what. Butler would be a good get for the defense. I think this trade is going to happen. I hope we give up next year 2. |

Re: What should a trade for Malcolm Butler look like to you?
I will say this once again....if we fix the pass rush we do not need to pay this guy 10M a year. Get the best pass rusher at 11 and then DB at 32. We address the front 7 again in the 2nd and we will be set!
I guarantee that our secondary will look better. |

Lol, I agree. if the Saints feel they "need" to trade for Butler, my original post was the most i'd give. My preference and hope has always been that we keep the picks.
