I don't see how this is so impressive. Almost every contract has this option built in it, and if it didn't, you could easily restructure with the player to add that option, and then use it. There are a lot of teams who have made the playoffs since the last time we made it, and their GM's manage to get their coaches the players they want, within the same cap rules. So why is it that you continue to absolve Loomis of any responsibility, and claim that he's just doing Payton's bidding, when the same could be said for all of these other GM's who's teams are much more successful and they do it all under the same constraints as Loomis? I've never said this was all on him, either. Payton, his scouting department, and assistants through the years share plenty of responsibility in this. But there is nothing Loomis is doing that sets him apart, that anyone has shown me. He gets all kinds of glory when things go right, but he's somehow blameless when they don't. Sorry, but this doesn't pass the common sense test, to me. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
