Howard update

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said he is getting the cold shoulder from the Cowboys concerning trade talks for New Orleans defensive end Darren Howard. But Jerry Jones said the team remains interested.

"We just haven't been able to come to any agreement on compensation, which isn't unusual," Jones said.

The Cowboys have no interest in trading either of their first-round draft picks -- No. 11 and No. 20 -- or linebacker Dat Nguyen.

The Saints used the franchise tag on Howard, guaranteeing him $7.8 million this season, but New Orleans has been working to trade the five-year veteran who had 11 sacks last season and has 41 in his career.

Then I would give the cold shoulder to the Cowboys -- I would seriously talk to other teams (the redskins for example). Being in the same division that may start the discussions back up

Who cares about the Howard trade?

Four years of losing and I ain\'t expecting nothing to change.

You think getting ONE player is going to improve this team?

Might as well keep Howard and hopefully we will lose enough games and we\'ll have the number 1 pick in next year\'s draft.

That\'s the only way this team is going to get better. Foget the playoffs ... we need to lose so Loomis and Haslett will get fired then we can draft a QB with the first pick.

The Browns have shown interest as well...

I think it\'s now a forced issue..we need to trade him now...waiting till the draft is just too risky in my opinion...

With only 30 days left till the Draft, it is really coming down to the wire...

Maybe Howard and a 2nd round pick could net us a 1st round pick?

It doesn\'t seem too far fetched to me...

Absolutely. Dallas is putting pressure on the Saints by essentially saying, \"We don\'t think Howard is worth what you\'re asking, so go ahead an keep him and his big cap hit.\"

The Saints should do the same, essentially saying, \"Fine. I thought we were close, but I guess we\'ll just trade him to your division rival instead. Hope Bledsoe learns how to scramble this offseason!\"
