Howard rumor from owner's meeting
The Raiders have apparently become the latest team trying to snag defensive end Darren Howard away from the Saints. Howard, whom New Orleans tagged as its franchise player this off-season, has been on the trading block with the Cowboys mentioned as the team most likely to acquire him. But Oakland has talked recently with New Orleans, dangling players such as its own franchise player CB Charles Woodson (who carries his own $10.5 cap number for 2005) or another disgruntled CB Phillip Buchanon (who would like to be traded). Word is the Saints would prefer to make a deal before the draft, in hopes of also adding another pick from this year's draft. If a Howard deal doesn't happen by the draft, the Saints plan on keeping him.
I wouldn't mind Buchanon and a draft pick... the guy has shown flashes of becoming a Probowl caliber corner. A second rounder with it would seal it for me. |

Buchanon and a pick would be a GREAT trade for us. He has played well and also returns punts and kicks.
Funny... I believe the 13th pick in 2002 came down to Donte Stallworth or Phillip Buchanon. |

Howard rumor from owner's meeting
Interesting idea papz.
I wouldn\'t mind Buchannon; I think he is a quality corner. With McKenzie, we\'d have a damn fine group back there. A second corner is pretty far down my list of needs though. Further, it doesn\'t address our problem at LB though, so we\'d have to get a high pick (1st or 2nd). Of course, these days, a player and a 2nd (so long as the player is someone I\'ve heard of) sounds like a good deal for Howard? Our secondary won\'t have to worry too much if other teams are running for 4 yards a carry... |

Howard rumor from owner's meeting
Saints GM Mickey Loomis said he is getting the cold shoulder from the Cowboys concerning trade talks for New Orleans defensive end Darren Howard. But Jerry Jones said the team remains interested. -- Fort Worth Star-Telegram [Edited on 24/3/2005 by papz] |

I bet Al would LOVE to dump Woodson off on us...I too would rather have Phillip..He\'s young, fast, talented..and played College for Miami, where He was part of a Championship team..
He has been improving and would only benefit us, if even only as a special teams ace, though I really think if He came here, he would be starting Opposite McKensie... Oakland has also been dangling Philip in the Dolphins face as well... |

Buchannon -- I would take him in a heartbeat. Our backfield would be McKenzie and Buchannon with Smith at safety. Best backfield I can remember us having (at least on paper). If we got that then I would concentrate all of my efforts in moving up in the draft to get a quality linebacker. Be still my beating heart.

Buchanon and a draft pick - almost too good to be true. The Saints are in a rather good negotiating position given that McKenzie and Brown are an okay tandem (unlike last year\'s).
A big no-no on Woodson and his big mouth. Isn\'t that the sentiment all around the league, fans and FOs on the same page for once? Good luck shopping him, Raiders. |

Phillip Buchanon and a number 2 would be great! Buchanon is very solid now, but he was unreal his rookie year before he got hurt. I think a change of teams would make his play go up a notch.

Howard rumor from owner's meeting
Interesting!
So if Dallas realizes that other teams are interested....How BAD do they want Howard? Do they throw Dat back in as part of a trade? So if it comes down to Oak offering Buchanon ( Who I like ) and a 2nd rounder or Dallas offering Dat and a 2nd rounder.....What do you guys like? Not sure where Oaks 2nd is compared to Dallas, I\'m guessing it\'s better, But I\'d say take the Buchanon trade. I know LB, LB, but.....Who knows? |
