Final thoughts on the draft

On the eve of the draft here a some of my thoughts after a interesting off-season
.I'm quite pleased with the results of our moves in free agency even without our draft picks
Not only do we have 7 picks ,we seem to be well positioned in the draft to be offered opportunities to trade back and acquire more picks.
I could see some team wanting to move up @#11 and #32 .
Depending on how the draft falls we have the ability to move up or down as the draft develops.
It would seem that there is good depth at our positions of need.
Anyone on this board knows that opinion varies greatly on who we should pick
My confidence is high that we will come away from the draft with several players who will upgrade our team.
It's looks as if the draft is going to be very interesting and I can't wait.!
Day one we should have two new staters.
That could easily be the tipping point to improve our defense enough to win three more games.
That gets us into the playoffs.

Re: Final thoughts on the draft

All we need is a couple of B defenders. That's honestly all I am hoping for and likely all we get if we are lucky. Anything else we hit pay dirt. Improve the D and we are getting in the playoffs. We have a good RB and a top ten WR on the other side and a formidable OL.

Who are you kidding? Payton is trading UP and we all know it!!

Re: Final thoughts on the draft

I have a funny feeling Payton and co. are eyeing Clemson WR Wiliams at #11. The moving of Cooks sets it up nicely and I can see the Saints taking the top WR at 11 in a defensive year the best value. I'm fairly impressed by Williams as well, it wouldn't be the worst move.

Or we could begin the night with a Hooker and end things with a Taco :)

Shocker - OJ Howard at 11.

My thoughts? Marlon Humphrey at #11!

In an amazing, totally unexpected move the Saints draft in the eleventh pick of 2017...

me!

When asked, Payton said it was the easiest way to get me to stop bugging him for a free jersey with my name on it.

Re: Final thoughts on the draft

Everyone will be disappointed because we ended up taking Charles Harris at 11.

I look at if we had a chace to get any player in the draft who is it???

Adams?

Going to be the craziest draft I think we have seen in awhile. I mean you have teams needing QB's that could and should trade back out of the top spots. I hope they do because then top D players will drop into our laps.

There's a ton of buzz this morning that the Browns are going to pick Mitchell Trubisky at #1. Can you think of a more Browns move than that?!

Gosh I hope not. We need to break this habit and if anything trade down! The trade ups are one of the top reasons we've had poor depth (especially on defense) and a barren practice squad over the years.

I agree. It seems prospects 8-22 are very similar this year. Might be able to get some value

Re: Final thoughts on the draft

Trading down requires another party who wants to trade up. The very reason several of you give for trading down is exactly why I don't see many teams willing to move up.

Why the hell do so many people look at the lose of Cooks as the loss of our entire receiving corp? The people we have are bad assed! Cooks would be a luxury this year. It's the reliable TE we need much more than a Cooks replacement. There's gonna be plenty of capable hands available in the third to fill our needs without wasting a one on this guy.

As far as a Hooker and a Taco? Throw in a six pack of Pharaoh Brown ale and you've got a deal!

I could think of one more Browns move than that... A move to some other city... Again. Other than that, taking Trubisky at #1 would be about right for them.

Re: Final thoughts on the draft

If the Browns take ANY QB in this draft #1, they're stupid. Of course, you also have to think that the Niners, Bears, Jags and Bills could swing for a QB in this very week class.

The more QBs taken in the top 10, the more options we'll have at 11!! Sounds good to me!

Pick #11 is anyone's guess but I'll be curious to see who we select @ #32. Cunningham, Jarrad Davis, Willis would be solid options IMO.

The Browns must have had some positive takeaways from drafting Tim Couch that the rest of the world isn't seeing!

Keep on eye on this one Chris.

McShay, Cosell & Mayock all have us taking Harris @ 11.

Nothing really... There just hasn't been any hype around here about him so it would be a little bit of a surprise.

Yep, from seemingly out of nowhere he's become a hot name for our pick. Did someone hear something or is it a smoke screen?

I'm flipping the f*** out if we take Charles Harris at 11. He'll probably still be around at 32. Please don't do this Ireland, Loomis, and Payton.

Marshon Lattimore
Reuben Foster

He is a good player if you ask me. Has a good "get off" & hustle. The Saints FO could see him as the compliment to Jordan that we've missed over the years. I'm not sure what we ranked last season on 3rd down however I bet it wasn't very good so quite naturally Sean wants someone who can "disrupt the passer". Harris wouldn't be my favorite pick at #11, but it's hard to ignore the pass rushers and production Missou puts out at the NFL level.

I'm sure Jeff Ireland and co have done their homework.

That was a good choice. They just forgot to draft a decent OL for him...

Mayock has us trading 32 to the Cardinals? WTF and the Cardinals picking Mahomes. We'll do that pick. Why would we trade it. Cardinals have nothing we want do they? He said we'll get 45 and 3rd this year from the Cardinals for the pick. I think I'm OK with that.

I don't believe it's a smoke screen at all. Harris could be in play depending on who is off the board prior to pick 11.

I'm seeing him gone by 14 in some drafts so not really much of a reach. I'm just gonna have some faith in our new and improved FO this year. Until they do something stupid like pick a QB in the first round -or a "project" in the second...

Edge rusher @ 42 anyone? If Jordan Willis is still there by then, I could see us selecting him. Some scouts have compared him to Danielle Hunter.

Isn't Reddick a better pick if he's available? I've read that Harris struggles against the run.
