OK draft junkies, our 40th pick....

haslett at fla st pro day-

The workout took place at 9 a.m., not Noon as originally planned because of inclement weather. All 32 teams were represented among the 100-plus player personnel in attendance. Notable attendees: Head coaches Bill Cowher and Jim Haslett along with Dolphins GM Rick Spielman.

Players ran outdoors on a very, very fast rubber Tartan track. Many players ran their 40s with shoes that had nubs, which helps get better traction and lends to faster times.

Alex Barron OT Barron was 6-7½ and 320 pounds at the combine, but he weighed in at 312 here. On the fast track, he ran 4.86 and 4.83 in the 40, which is remarkable for a guy his size. He added a 38-inch vertical jump, a 4.62 short shuttle, did not do the cone drill and put up 19 strength reps. He supposedly has 38¼ inch arms, which would be the longest I\'ve ever seen.

Travis Johnson LB Johnson (6-3 7/8, 296) ran his 40s in 4.90 and 4.95. He had a 34-inch vertical, an 8-foot-7 long jump, a 4.41 short shuttle, a 7.50 cone drill and 23 strength reps.
Craphonso Thorpe WR Thorpe (6-0 7/8, 187) ran his 40s in 4.37 and 4.50. Had a 35½-inch vertical jump, 9-foor-10½ long jump, 4.31 short shuttle, 7.15 three-cone drill and did 15 reps.
Xavier Beitia K Beitia (5-10, 235) looks taller than his 5-foot-10 stature.
Jerome Carter S Carter (5-11¾, 217) had a 36½-inch vertical jump.
Chauncey Davis DE Davis (6-1 7/8, 274) ran his 40s in 4.81 and 4.84. Had a 37-inch vertical jump, 4.30 short shuttle, 7.75 three-cone drill and did 22 strength reps.
Charles Howard DT Howard (6-2 5/8, 259) ran his 40s in 4.87 twice. Had a 34-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-2 long jump, 4.37 short shuttle, 7.25 three-cone drill and did 22 reps.
Bryant McFadden CB McFadden (5-11 3/8, 188) ran his 40s in 4.41 and 4.50. Had a 39½-inch vertical jump, 11-foot-3 long jump, 4.16 short shuttle and 6.90 three-cone drill.
Eric Moore DE Moore (6-4 1/8, 261) ran 4.72 twice in the 40s. He had a 34½-inch vertical, a 4.49 short shuttle and an 8.70 in the three-cone drill.
Chris Rix QB Rix (6-2 1/8, 216) ran his 40s in 4.59 and 4.67. Had a 36-inch vertical jump, 10-foot long jump, 4.63 short shuttle and 7.15 three-cone drill.
Dominic Robinson WR Robinson (6-0 ¼, 212) ran his 40s in 4.59 and 4.65. Had a 35½-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-4½ long jump, 4.16 short shuttle, 6.74 three-cone drill and put up eight reps.
Leroy Smith S Smith (5-10, 183) ran his 40s in 4.50 and 4.53. Had a 38-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-10 long jump, 4.22 short shuttle, 7.15 three-cone drill and did 9 reps.
Chauncey Stovall WR Stovall (6-0¼, 217) ran his 40s in 4.68 and 4.65. Had a 33-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-5 long jump, 4.37 short shuttle, 7.24 three-cone drill and did 13 reps.
B.J. Ward S Ward (6-2 3/8, 211) ran his 40s in 4.43 and 4.48. Had a 39½-inch vertical jump, 11-foot-0½ long jump, 4.09 short shuttle and 7.03 three-cone drill.
Ray Willis OT Willis (6-5 3/8, 325) ran his 40s in 5.15 and 5.21. Had a 25½-inch vertical jump, 7-foot-11 long jump, 5.06 short shuttle and 8.56 three-cone drill.

see basicaly we need another late first/early second type pick..because the players I want will go in the late first/early second.

Hey LT I love the pick of Johnson at #40. I think he is going to be a real sleeper and have an immediate impact if we can get him along with Johnson in the first round.

Adrian McPherson QB Former Florida State quarterback Adrian McPherson, who played for the Indiana Firebirds in the Arena Football League last year, worked out March 29 in Bradenton, Fla., before four teams. New Orleans quarterback coach Turk Schonert and Jacksonville quarterbacks coach Ken Anderson were among the scouts watching. The Giants and Dolphins also sent representatives.

He threw to two wide receivers: Adam Herzing, who led NFL Europe in receiving last year and currently is with the Detroit Lions, and Rod Miller, who is eligible for the draft after playing at Florida A&M.

McPherson (6-3 1/8, 211) ran his 40s in the mid-4.5 range. (He ran one against the wind, and one with the wind.) Near the end of his position drills, he threw a flat-footed pass 72 yards. He has visits with the Ravens and Rams scheduled.
from his pro day--interesting.
