OK draft junkies, our 40th pick....
I assume we'll take the BPA at 16. Which won't be a LB unless DJ slips. So, that leaves a plethora of LB's to chose from with our 40th pick. There seems to be a ton of them projected as 2nd rounders so just for kicks, lets say there all there except DJ and Merriman.
Who would you pick at 40? MLB Barrett Ruud Channing Crowder Odell Thurman OLB Burnett Boley Blackstock If all 6 of these guys are there, who do you want, and why? [Edited on 29/3/2005 by Danno] |

A plethora? Definition please!!! Anyway, I think I would go with either Ruud or Crowder. Why? Because I have read their names more than any other on this board...otherwise, I don\'t have a clue. It would be really nice if we had some videos to look at before choosing.

I don\'t think we will have this pick. I think we will trade up to the number four slot. The Bears need players not one great player. I still think DJ is the best player in the draft for us. He would be the BPA at four and would fit our need. But if I am wrong and the FO stays put, I would take Rudd.

OK draft junkies, our 40th pick....
from discussions here OT, DT, and CB seem to be the most realistic and hopeful choices at #16. add an outside chance of alex smith that couldnt be turned down and count thomas davis at SS which is seems the front office here doesnt go for. if a OT or DT is taken at #16 i think a much better combination of better player available and need will be a CB at #40. as much as i have preached LB help is needed i think a marlin jackson, for example, at corner could have as much or more impact than some of those LB\'s. so i could see and not be disappointed if a top 5-6 corner was chosen.
as for those, i do like the idea of keeping watson inside. if a top veteran had been attained like hartwell it would be different. to add a rookie with the already thin on experienced LB crew it would be better to not move watson. those names are generally found at the top of most lists/projections. for #40 i think crowder and burnett are most likely to be gone already. i like burnett more. he has had a knee operation already but crowder has had several. other than that crowder is a mean machine too. the most likely and best available of the other 4 imo is blackstock. he looks like a great pick. i think both thurman and ruud project in the #40 range. they might be gone but could slip a little past that too. thurman seems the higher rated pure talent wise but ruud is raved about character wise and his motor. (i could see him as the patriots #1) boley would seem like a stretch up at #40 to me. he is more like a lower 2nd round at best. he would be a great pick at #82. i also think McCune and Lance Mitchell would be solid 3rd rounders. |

Chris Henry -- WR --West Virginia
or Fred Gibson -- WR -- Georgia Henderson isn\'t going to lock down the #2 spot during the offseason workouts. |

if we go Wideout this early I will piss myself...I just think that like cornerback..there are alot of guys who will develop nicely..
but then again..who knows....I\'m starting to get on the cambell bandwagon...just to make sure we get a quality pick. |

[/quote:3d7f82d651]I thought Donte was #2.
Is he already hurt again? [/quote:3d7f82d651] Oops, little rusty. I was thinking #3. I guess that I would basically look at whoever Kiper suggests and pick something totally different. |
