If we could just catch a break and get healthy.......

Drew doesn't want to find a winner elsewhere. He has said he is going to retire a Saint. Whenever he does decide to call it quits with New Orleans it will be because he is finished with football altogether.

I hope they stay along until I see improvement and we are winning. Anything less than that at this point and I'm ready to move on.

Drew, yes. The guy is a winner. SP, if he can't turn it around, nope. Most of the fan base is slowly tiring of his act, but he can change that by winning again. Let's hope this year begins the turn around.,

Only indirectly can the difficulties of the last three years be blamed on Payton. We all know his priority is the offense and the offense has remained one of the top two in the league virtually every year. He handed the defense over to Rob Ryan and it proved to be a disaster. Yes, that can be blamed on him. He can also be blamed for hanging on to Vitt and gang too long, but now they are gone and he replaced them with coaches with whom it appears we are all optimistic. He cannot be blamed for the injuries that decimated the defense last season. But, I guess he could be blamed for the special teams blunders that kept us from being 10-6 ... but, once again, he made a positive move in the coaching area there as well.

There's not a player in the world that likes to play on a one year contract. There's a reason Drew hasn't signed or discussed it.

Rob had the defense playing great in 2013 and then "apparently" SP wanted a defense more like Seattle's, got too involved in the defense, got rid of some key members and then pinned it on Rob Ryan and sacked him.

I think SP is responsible for more of the D's failings than we know, 4 DC's in 5 years is not great.

Brees would have to have a serious injury or the worst season of his career for us to let him walk. I could see a 2 year 40 million contract next year. He would be around for 3 years total breaking every qb record out there. All except farve into record lol. The city and team need Brees. He is the face of both and will be for years to come.

Bad contracts, dead money, injury prone players, terrible draft picks (pre Ireland), holding on to bad coaches a season or two too long, historically bad defenses, etc, etc. I feel bad for Brees.

Brees is wiping sweat off his forehead with $100 bills. I wouldn't feel to bad for him.

Peyton Manning did it for the last several years of his career. He also has the same agent as Brees. The only difference is that Manning got injured and was released by the Colts. Brees has discussed it and said he wanted to do the year to year the rest of his playing career. It does protect the team and gives him the ability to adjust to help the cap when needed.

The defense was playing great because Ryan had not fully implemented his scheme. They were playing the same "dummied down" version in 2013 that they played his first year in Dallas when they looked good. Then, just as he had in Dallas, he implemented the full read and react scheme the following year and the players were always a second behind the play. He implied the Dallas players weren't smart enough to handle the scheme. No, his scheme simply doesn't work and never has when fully implemented.

Payton has finally decided to stick with a DC. THAT is a good thing. Although, Gregg Williams had to go. So did Ryan. It is time to stick with Allen.
