You make good points. The reality of today's NFL is, given the limited roster space, teams are often compelled to go with the lesser-known younger talent, because you don't want to miss out on the ones who do excel and can help you for years to come versus a veteran could be in his final year before retirement. The NFL doesn't have AAA or a D-League so therefore you can't have many veterans around or you aren't developing any young talent. And the practice squad rules are pretty wonky so you can't rely on that. Thus the moves for reliable veterans that *should* make sense don't often work out in the NFL. I think Boldin could help but yes I see the other side of it.
