If he's good enough, why sign a MLB to a over average contract to start?

I hope the kid can put it all together, but it seems like he either isn't competent enough to make the adjustments or he's in the dog house.

Maybe he'll surprise. Maybe he gets cut. I don't give a **** what LBs are on the field. I just want a beast LB or two again. I miss those days.

Yeah I mean they definitely brought in Klein to be the Mike, I just don't understand what's going on because I'm not in the room with them. It's pretty well known that Rob Ryan's defensive players are confused and don't know what to do and that was put on Anthony as a rookie. I don't know what led to coach giving up on him so quick.

I'm wondering if Te'o could emerge. Remember he's started over 30 games for the Chargers.

I think Te'o could be a pretty good option on the strong side if Klein is the Mike. I believe Te'o played the Sam at Notre Dame before they switched to a 3-4.

Correct & this is very possible under Nolan.

Teo was a 2nd rounder who started for 3 years in SD as MIKE. IMO from an ascending player standpoint Klein has the advantage as he appears to be set for a breakout year in NO but as a pure MLB standpoint, Teo' if healthy, when healthy is the better MIKE.

I'm hoping Klein, Anthony and Ellerbe are our starters.

James Lauranitis was signed last year too, look how long that lasted. Stephpne was better than that...so we have to wait n see

If a few more guys like this can step up (Craig Robertson) in 2017 .. we will be a much better defensive ball club.

Wasn't Te'o supposed to be a huge thing coming into the league? Did he just never develop or was it an injury thing? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

Yeah. He was showing promise, but he seems to screw up his foot or ankle every year. He was even selected team captain last year and then messed up his achilles about five minutes later. He'll be great for us if he can stay on the field.

That's just Payton's way of playing the high risk high reward card. He gambles on injury prone players that could be stars hoping to hit now in then. People wonder why we have so many injuries. You have your CJ Spillers and Byrds but we also hit on some like Breaux. Odds are these gambles have got to start paying off sooner or later.
Would be cool if that was the case with Te'O. If a couple other players like Ellerbie are able to finally stay on the field our defense could be fun to watch again.
