Re: Goodbye Ellerbe!
It is true that what works for some might not work for others. The variation in metabolism and body composition is wide among humans, so there naturally are studies that support both sides of this debate and also refute them both.
I personally believe in zone 2 cardio for maximizing fat burn, which translates to something around 130-140 BPM. I don't think running or jogging is the best way to get that cardio, but rather I'd do cardio circuit training with a lot of variation, while keeping that BPM closely within the target zone. I think that a huge misconception that is widely held, is that you have to be huffing and buffing while sweating buckets full of misery in order to lose weight. Controlled cardio to maximize fat burn along with weight training while maintaining a diet that is customized for your needs, and a good sleeping schedule are the perfect mix for fat loss. And you can't forget your overall happiness, since the mental side is many times the difference between either achieving your fitness goals or failing and giving up.
