At the end of the day, good coaches like Payton, will assess the assets and liabilities of his personnel and deploy them to maximize success, minimize failure...

Dennis Allen is learning too; and it's on him to make the leap as a coach and not be stagnant in scheme/thinking, but take what he's got and make it work...

And judging from last season, there were several games that the Saints made terrific halftime adjustments and really put the clamps on teams at times...

DA will get even better with his new staff additions...

Rob Ryan operated totally opposite of that strategy forcing square pegs into round holes. He had his strict scheme and was going to use it whether the players were capable or not. That led to the defensive disasters of 2014-15. Dennis Allen finally had total control last year but was hamstrung by the rash of injuries. The personnel not only changed constantly from game to game, sometimes it changed from half to half with players falling like flies.

Which ever one best fits the personnel the Saints have on the roster.

For a change.

The "Let's Stop The Other Team From Scoring and Protect The Lead The Offense Built" scheme.

I'm pretty sure we use all of them off and on, as most teams do.

The list is simply base defenses. No team stays in the same scheme all game long.

Danno,

I wasn't specifically saying the Saints needs to use one of the schemes on the list. It's more a question of what scheme will they likely use and will that scheme make the list for next year.

I think Seahawks should be at 1 instead of 3.

Their D was more innovative than Denvers. I mean come on.
