Me too. I never wanted to draft him but watching the kid his rookie season he impressed me. I dont have a clue to what Allen and Vitt were thinking last season bringing in a way over done player and not starting him last season and when he got his chance because of injury he played really well. I hope Nolan turns him into a stud and makes Allen and Vitt look stupid in the process. Changing DC's hurt him last season and Vitt never excelled as a lb. coach or was even a good lb. coach and that hurt his progress also.

with you!

Absolutely, but (and let's hope this does not happen because I have high hopes this team is turning the corner) the losing begins we have to send out the search party. Like last year

Then how many unsuccessful trick plays can you honestly bring to mind? Secondly, Mark's a little... well volatile. He seems to not always think things through as he's on the field. He gets out there to do that and his adrenaline could see that ball just about anywhere but where it should be. I think I'd rather see AP or Alvin in charge of the ball if they really have to do that play. Thirdly, there's a reason good QBs are so rare...

Yeah sometimes the tricks can trick yourself. Like the fumble on an errant reverse to reverse pitch, lol. We have had some of those. I like trick plays, but if you don't catch em sleeping you need to make the smart play.

I think that's why Guido said he'd like to see them in pre season. If they work, then defensive coordinators all season will have to think twice about the possibility and if they don't work, it's preseason so no harm no foul.

Let me point out another RB that Brees played with, LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson was never a QB as far as I know and he was 8 for 12 in those trick plays with 7 resulting in TD's, including a TD pass to Brees himself.

Just saying.

;)

That was exactly the point I was making. Nothing to lose.

There's no defensive coordinator who is looking at preseason tape and saying holy **** they just threw a half back pass...we better be careful with what we do.

Did we do a lot of onside kicks in 09 preseason?

Good point Guido. And also a good point about it being preseason Utah. I just don't really like trick plays (or pitch backs near the goal line for that matter) very much. Plus I really, really don't think Ingram's the guy to try it with.

NFL DC's look at every potential opponent's play, pre-season, regular season, or in the case of the Patriots, even during closed practices.

there was a few people on here very inaccurate with their season projections for wins last. As soon as they were wrong they hid, then came back after a few wins, then went back into witness protection, and finally began the usual excuse making.
