Look, the reality is, neither you nor I knows exactly what was said or the time line of what was said and when. We have a report that says they were being blocked from going, then we have and update in the original article (an update which I read before posting this, BTW)in which the coach says he "talked to them", and according to you, apparently some alleged retractions by Rivers.

Do you know for a fact that Lynn never told Rivers or Gates "you can't go"?
Of course you don't.

Could it be there is some spin after the fact by Lynn to make it sound like a joint decision to save face?
Of course it could.

Could it be someone overheard something out of context?
Of course it could.

Could it be someone made the whole thing up?
Sure.

In the end, if you don't know for a fact what was said, you don't get to shriek "fake news" and be condescending to people.
Sorry that you counted yourself among the lazy public.

But, I believe what Rivers said himself and Gates is still considering going to the ceremony.

Anthony Lynn: I haven’t blocked anyone from going to Tomlinson ceremony

A report from Alex Marvez of Sporting News on Monday indicated that Chargers coach Anthony Lynn told quarterback Philip Rivers and tight end Antonio Gates that they had to be at Saturday’s training camp practice rather than travel to Canton to see former teammate LaDainian Tomlinson inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Lynn disputed that report later in the day. He said he has not blocked any player from going and that final decisions are still pending.

“I’ve talked to Philip. I’ve talked to Antonio. I’ve even talked to LT. We’re all on the same page,” Lynn said, via USA Today. “At the end of the day, we’re going to make the best decision for our football team, and that’s it.”

Per Marvez’s initial report, Gates is still considering going to see Tomlinson but Rivers told Alex Flanagan of NFL Media that he will not go to Canton.

Rivers said that it was his choice rather than Lynn blocking him from going, although Lynn did say he wanted Rivers to be at Saturday’s session. The practice is being held at the StubHub Center, which will be the Chargers’ home for a few years, and is a joint session with the Rams, who will be joining them in a forthcoming stadium.
The whole point I was making is that the majority of the public read one headline and take it as fact without doing a little research on their own to find out the truth. That is being lazy.

I heard Rivers say himself the decision was all his on NFL Radio. I also knew he said the same thing to Alex Flanagan personally.

Once again, I was NOT being condescending, but was simply pointing out the facts. If you choose to lump yourself in with the lazy public that's your problem, not mine.
