BERGERON GETTING ATTENTION
One player that is getting the attention of NFL scouts across the country is Arena League star wide receiver Troy Bergeron.

Bergeron, who plays for the Georgia Force, is widely regarded as the top NFL prospect in the Arena League.

Bergeron, 21, is the youngest player in the Arena League.

He had 61 catches for 828 yards, averaged 13.6 yards per catch and scored 20 touchdowns heading into Saturday’s game against the New Orleans Voodoo.

One NFL scout who has watched Bergeron play at least three games this season said that if he were in this spring’s draft he would be a first day selection.

"There is no question in my mind that he is the best pro prospect in the Arena League," the NFC West scout said. " Bergeron has great speed and he catches the ball extremely well. He needs some work on his route-running skills, which are a bit crude, but he is an electrifying player with the ball in his hands. If everything checks out on his character issues, I would think he could end up going as high as the second round in this draft if he were available. He is that good."
The Voodoo and coach Mike Neu heavily pursued the speedy end before the season, but he opted to sign with Georgia, despite having most of his immediate family living in the New Orleans area.

Bergeron originally signed on with Auburn, but he did not attend the school and instead had a short stay with Middle Tennessee State University.

Bergeron left Middle Tennessee State and he signed on with the Columbus Wardogs in Arena Football 2 where he caught 77 passes for 1,220 yards and scored 26 touchdowns for the Wardogs despite not playing in the team’s first four games.

Bergeron’s agent, Mark Bloom, will explore the possibility of getting the playmaking wide receiver into the 2005 summer supplemental NFL draft, but if not, he will opt to throw his name in the 2006 draft.
