Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

If you can only keep one, then who and why?

Due to our depth at RB, I'm on the fence between keeping Lewis and Bighill. Lewis is like a hummingbird out there with some pretty good hands. Bighill's a seventy mile an hour tree stump.

Bighill... but we keep Lewis also.

All three should get some extended time in that one.

Definitely between Bighill and Lewis.

I think Lewis is a lock. Little guy but he's a gamer under the lights.

Side note - the running back Victor. He's got good tape over the last two weeks. I'd prefer him over Cadet. Lutz is also really kicking the ball well from any distance.

I was going to add Victor into the mix, but I'm thinking PS for him with all we have at running back this year.

At 1st when I was hearing much about Fuller I thought Lewis will be cut. Now I believe he will make the team

Crusader 08-27-2017 04:46 PM

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

Cuts will be a lot harder to predict this year than the last couple of seasons. It feels like there is so much more talent on this team than what we have had in a very long time.

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

Not sure why it's either or,
All three have made it hard for the coaches to decide, which is a refreshing change from deciding which guy sucks less.
All 3 will probably be on an NFL roster in 2017

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

Players on the bubble that will be in the league idk on saints roster

Victor
Stupar
Bighill
Banjo
Muhammad
Foreman
Harris
Hill
Fuller

Players that journey ends

Lapman
Barnes
LeRibeus
Grayson
Nassib
Cadet
Mabry
Swann
Calhoun

Practice squad

Loewen
Maulet
Bighill
Turner
Tom
Dural
Edmunds

This my opinion

neugey 08-27-2017 05:40 PM

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

I have a feeling Bighill won't get to the practice squad without getting picked up by someone else the way he is coming on. So he's my choice.

Cruize 08-27-2017 06:06 PM

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

Lewis is on the 53. Lasco brings nothing as a RB. Just doesn't have the vision. Victor is a legit RB. Bighill is just a good football player. I feel confident Victor and Bighill will make it to the PS. Anthony is the odd man out at LB. He just doesn't have the instincts or see the play well enough.

Where does Anthony end up on your projection list?

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

This time of year, everything is very dynamic with flash plays, injuries, all will change the fortunes, players and team, quickly...

Daniel Lasco is our biggest RB and while we're deepest at RB, don't underestimate his value, especially as our top gunner in coverage teams...

Tommylee Lewis has shown he can play; though this is way early - may have given the Saints serious leverage with Snead in next season's negotiations...

Adam Bighill just keep overcoming physical measurables to get on the field and make "closing" plays on defense, reminding me of former Saint Safety, Sammy Knight...

But if, and praying, @thenastynate54 (Love that Twitter CallSign) did not sustain a long injury, we're pretty much set at LBer without Bighill...

And while I can't underscore Lasco's importance and how the success of the coverage units rides on him, we do have other RBs...

So that leaves Tommylee Lewis, who also plays ST and has shown he can pick up the slack should Snead miss time and run end-arounds in place of Ginn...

Tommylee is the guy I'd prioritize in what has shown to be the shallower of the position groups for the Saints...

My honest opinion is the saints are trying to trade him but if they can't find a fair bargain he will remain a saint

I know this is a long shot, but hear me out.

If there are players you don't want anyone else to sign, make them out to be the biggest political distractions you can.

Make them kneel, hold up fists, get belligerent during the anthem -- nobody will touch them, and they'll safely return back to your PS. After all is quiet, they can retire their character flaws.

It's going to be tough...I don't think Victor makes it to the PS. Another team will sign him.

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

It's all going to come to whether or not Victor can outplay Lasco on Special Teams...

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

Bighill has gotta make the team. He looks like Sam Mills. Lewis could be a great slot WR for us and possibly beat out Snead plus he returns punts pretty well. Cut Lasco and Cadet. Keep Victor, Lewis and Bighill.

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

So far I got to go with Bighill although Lewis has made a case to be here, the D needs players more than the O is another reason I went this way. Bighill could play SS and probably be very good there.

Or have the NOLA PD come up with some fake charges that they will later drop once said player is on the practice squad. No I'm not serious but these practice squad rules suck!

Minus the fumble, he's been really good.

How exactly do the PS rules suck? Players have to be cut to make the PS. Since they are cut, they are no longer the organization's players. They are free agents.

The final 5-7 cuts for every team are difficult. And most of those players either end up on a PS, or possibly are signed to another organization. But they are no longer Saints players no matter where they end up as any organzation can sign any PS player off any team to their 53.

I actually thought the same thing to myself jokingly. PR nightmare but it is hella clever. Underhanded as hell but hey you gotta do what you gotta do right?
Even funnier is if they all came clean after.

It's original, I'll give you that. But it's kind of...idk..gross to think about. Plus the players would be attacked publicly for falsely supporting it. In today's world, that's would make all sorts of news.

I did hear something, not sure if it's true. Related to the whole national anthem thing. I heard Jerry Jones told his players that if they sit or kneel or whatever during the anthem, he'll bench them or kick them off the team.

Anyone know anything about this and if it's true? I think it's awesome.

Living up in North Texas, I read and hear far too much of Jerruh but I don't think that applies to the "good players" in Dallas. The idea to say a player like Jason Witten, Tyron Smith, Dez etc would get cut if kneeled for the N/A would be absurd. A fine or half game suspension...maybe. Hell, Jerruh would "take a knee" if he thought it would lead his team to another Super Bowl.

God Bless America.

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

Yeah, I'm saying it jokingly -- just that there are ways to get your players if you really want to get creative.

You'd be using the ridiculous ESPN talking heads to your advantage. The players would know it's just for staying on this roster, would feel like they're beating the NFL at their own game. And your media perception would be great, cause you're giving your players their "platform." Then again, the consequences would probably be catastrophic!

Not saying I condone mixing politics with football(I actually hate that) -- it just all depends on how bad you want your guys!

So he really said that huh? Well, good for him. I really don't like the guy much, but if he really said that to his players, I respect that.

Re: Lewis, Lasco or Bighill?

So you think a player will be OK with not signing an NFL contract at about $450,000 per year just for a chance to stay on the Saints practice squad, in addition to agreeing to do something underhanded?

MLB does it much better with its minor-league option years. You have 3 or so years where you can retain the younger/newer player's rights and move them between majors/minors without waiving them. I think the NFL organizations that find diamonds in the rough should be rewarded for their scouting, not screwed over because they don't have a spot for them at the time because of reasons out of their control (injuries). Compared to MLB and NBA, these rules stink. You shouldn't be able to snipe another team's up-and-comer just because that team didn't have room for them.

Yea. Prescott could walk to mid field, drop his pants, squat, and leave a steamy turd then wipe his ass with the American flag and Jerry would lick it clean if he thought he could get a SB out of it.
