Dolphins | Willing to Trade Down - from www.KFFL.com Tue, 5 Apr 2005 07:44:40 -0700 Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins have made it clear to other teams they are open to receiving offers for the No. 2 pick overall, which would allow them to trade down and acquire additional draft choices. |

Dolphins Willing to Trade Down
I don\'t think we should trade up for him or anyone else in this draft. If anything, I think we\'d be better trading back five or six spots.

I disagree, if Howard can be dealt for a 2nd rounder or packaged into the deal. Move our 16th and an extra 2nd rounder for the best LB in the draft, and still have another 2nd rounder?? I\'ll take those odds.

It just sounds too good to me. Though I\'d LOVE to see DJ on here, I just don\'t think it\'ll happen. And I\'m not setting myself up for another heartbreak.
Why? I don\'t think the finances would work. Number 2 overall picks are going to demand massive contracts. And as it is, we\'re tight on the cap. How much would a Howard trade free up? Was it 8 mil? We\'ll need everything the trade would free up just to get regular picks signed and the veterans\' contract extensions. DJ\'s agent would likely want too much of that cap space if he went at number 2 overall. On another note, we have the following glaring need positions: LB, SS, OT, and backup QB. What if we traded down? If we were to trade down from 16, (and complete the Howard trade as well), then we might be able to get --high end-- talent for all of those need positions (instead of just some of those positions). I\'m thinking a vet at LB via the Howard trade, then late round 1/early round 2 guys at OT, SS, and QB via draft picks. Man, talk about a makeover. I think we\'d be really competitive after a turnaround like that. |
can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.

Niners were looking to trade down .
Kinda tells you something about the quality of the number 1 selection and how much it will cost to sign it . |

LOL Fireman...
they all wanna trade down- SF, Mia, Cleve, Tenn, etc. Why? as good as those guys are at the top they most arent worth or are too risky for what contract obligation they will require. More quantity of lower picks in this draft will be a lot better than a few upper echelon ones. Miami is in a bind. They have only 5 total picks and but 2 on day one, no 2nd rounder. I do think they might even trade down and \"give\" value to get more picks. Miami could have no interest in Howard being stacked with DE\'s already. Bad news for anyone imagining getting to #2. All of the Saints picks together add up to 1783 points. Miami\'s #2 alone is worth 2600. So, if you tossed in Howard, counting him as a mid 1st rounder at 800-900 points, then it might be an even deal. Think it could happen? Nu uh, me neither. bookmark your draft pick value chart LOL http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/6330687 |

If we traded up-i would want it to be for something other than DJ...like alex smith or baron...
I say blow the team up..get high draft picks-get baron, smith then work on defense...if we suck next year-o well..the next great OT is coming out and some better linebackers.. |

Hell give them Howard and we get the #2 pick and they can have #16. At least we get something before draft day for Howard because if we wait we might not get anything and have alot less money to spend if we have to keep him. Dallas is also interested in trading down from #11 and they want Howard. What in the hell is the holdup on this deal anyway?
