I'm disappointed. Its freaking week 2!
To be perfectly honest, when football becomes a chore to watch, and it upsets our lives, we shouldn't feel the need to watch it anymore. We usually do, anyway, but it's really not worth anything to watch crappy football and get upset.

I watch games in spite of my disappointment, but if something comes up and I can't watch the games, I don't sweat it near as much anymore. I don't see the Saints pushing their lives to the side to support me or anyone I know.

Yeah I know, that sounded really depressing. I don't think of it as depressing. It's just reality, to me. Gotta keep it in some kind of perspective, or I'll go insane watching them lose.
spkb25, neugey, dizzle88 and 3 others like this.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Reality, we are likely to lose this week and start 0-3, good Lord how does he keep his job? I hope we win, but not looking likely.

There's the difference. It has never been a chore for me to watch the Saints. Ever. Win or lose it is always a pleasure being able to watch. For so many years (longer than many of you have been alive) I wasn't able to have TV access. In fact, if there is an NFL game on any day or any time I'm watching. No where near being a chore. It is my entertainment.

Football IS entertainment, for all of us, 'Guido. And as such, there ARE more important things. If you don't realize that by now, you're in too deep, friend.

I'm not talking about quitting as a fan (though I will stop watching them if they join in on this protesting crap). But there are times when games get in the way of other things, and you have to push things to the side to watch the game. I feel less and less inclined to do that. I want the Saints to win badly, but whether they win or lose, they don't help me with anything. The season ends, and it's like it never happened, until the next season comes along.

Also losing feels a lot worse than winning feels good, in my experience. Though I subject myself to it anyway, I'm not afraid to walk away if I can see it's just making me too aggravated. It has nothing to do with not caring about the team, and everything to do with self-restraint. Some of us are a lot more competitive, and we don't find joy in watching a team lose, and so our tempers flare up.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

I guess there's another big difference. I never let it aggravate me. And believe me, I am ultra-competitive on a personal level. But with the Saints I am not the one competing.

If that's true, then there's no point in being concerned with what people say about the Saints. You don't get aggravated with the team, yet you are pretty consistently aggravated with what people say about them.

Wanting to win, means not wanting to lose. That tends to make people upset when the team is losing. I'm not advocating for getting mad, which is exactly why I say that sometimes you gotta walk away.
