Exactly. Fans are too quick to advocate throwing away players regardless of consequences, yet are also quick to condemn dead cap created by throwing away players.

Just throwing this out there... I don't take PFF as gospel or anything, but Vaccaro is currently grading out as the 3rd worst player in the NFL. And I'm not buying that he's surrounded by subpar talent because Lattimore and Marcus Williams are performing very well.

I have never been impressed with Vaccaro. He couldn't hold a young Roman Harper's jock.

In fact, I think Roman Harper at 34 years old would outplay him right now, which isn't saying much.

He was still on the board when we picked Kenny . Always thought Eric had more upside and would be become a more complete player at this level.

Maybe if he could stay on the field. Reid is going to miss the next several weeks with a PCL injury.

Reid's played in 59 games. Vaccaro's played in 58. So his ability to stay on the field has been no worse than Vaccaro's.

So what if a player's gotten hurt with another team? What good has it done us because we didn't draft said player that got hurt?

What good has it done us while Gallette's been hurt for Washington for instance?

This guy is a joke. What was training camp for? Preseason? 2016 Season?

I'm digging up this old thread because I just stumbled upon something about Vaccaro being on the trade block. This is from an ESPN Insider piece about potential trade targets:

Kenny Vaccaro, S, New Orleans Saints
An exec said the Saints have asked for a seventh that converts to a sixth in shopping Vaccaro. New Orleans would have to eat some of what remains on a contract featuring a $5.7 million salary for 2017, another exec said.
"This would be maybe a fourth-rounder if he were not on the final year of his deal, and a sixth-rounder because he is in the final year," another insider said. "Vaccaro is making too much money with too little production to get traded now. The Saints would have to eat salary."

I thought he looked pretty good on Sunday except for the holding call.

Re: Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro: 'I'm staying here until they don't want me'

If Kenny V has clearly fell out of favor...

Look, again, if the Saints FO and Coaching Staff had been honest with themselves in April, we could already have moved him for more compensation and have his replacement in the fold...

However, only four (4) Saints defenders played 100% of the 52 defensive snaps from scrimmage Sunday - FS Marcus Williams, SS Kenny Vaccaro, LB A.J. Klein, and CB Ken Crawley(100%)

Kenny has to avoid the mental lapses and somehow let his playmaking ability show up on the field...

If that's the case, let him finish the season with the Saints and one of two things happens...

Either he finally finds his game and that's great for the team and we re-evaluate in the off-season...

Or he's allowed to walk, signs elsewhere and we get a modest compensatory pick for him, more than we'd get now...

Re: Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro: 'I'm staying here until they don't want me'

Yea screw that trade. He may not be what we expected but trading him now for a late round pick would be dumb. Our defense would instantly take a step back. If he were that bad he would be on the bench a lot more which tells me we don't have anyone else on the team that can do a better job at the moment.
He will be another Malcom Jenkens.

KV needs to continue roaming around the line. This is where he excels ... liability on the back end. He's much more suited on under routes/slower WR's.

He is a much better player in the 3 safety set, let Williams and Bell have the back end, sub out a LB and bring Vaccaro down in tbe box. It has worked so far and it worked during Kenny's rookie season.

Re: Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro: 'I'm staying here until they don't want me'

I just don't see how we pay him for a new contract.

If the light hasn't turned on yet, it won't happen between now and the end of the season. He doesn't make impact plays (He has had maybe 3 in his entire career) and he is much more prone to mental mistakes which has hurt this defense the past 3+ years.

He had a solid rookie campaign but has regressed since. He is a decent safety but not one worthy of a huge contract. Someone will overpay for him in the open market.

We have drafted two other safeties in the past 2 years and that is our future at safety. He simply won't get signed.

Part of this is due to the constant change in his role. Each DC has asked him to do something different. He is an in the box SS that can make plays when he is in that 10-15 yard area. Our problem as a whole on defense has been the constant changing in roles and schemes.....putting square pegs in a round hole...
