draft Ben Wilkerson?
In the hopes that we trade Howard for a LB, or a 1st or 2nd rounder, or a CB, we can take SS(David) in the 1st and depending if we have another first or 2nd from trading Howard, look at LB, that leaves us with another 2nd which we can use for a backup QB or an OT. So in the 3rd, we may be able to get Wilkerson. Teams will shy away cause he is smallish at C(around 270 no?), so he may be there. would that satisfy you LOE?

draft Ben Wilkerson?
Yes, I think so.
I\'ve posted before I\'d be happy with Davis in the first, if Howard was traded either for a vet LB or a late 1st round pick. (No less than that, because Howard is a proven commodity, taken at the #33 overall pick. He didn\'t bust, as 2nd round picks can do, and he\'s worth more than a mid or late 2nd round generic pick.) So, by need: LB - vet, or first round pick via Howard SS - Davis, 1st round pick OT - 2nd round pick Wilkerson - 3rd round pick QB - 4th round pick I would be happy with that. One player I still really jones about, though, is Matt Jones. No way he\'ll fall to the 4th round. Guess you can\'t have everything, though. PS ------------------------------------------- Another option I\'d be happy with is if they traded down from the 16th back to a late first round pick. That would yield an extra early 2nd round pick. Which enables us to fill all needs with talend, but also add another young cornerback or LB. If the CB route, then Fred Thomas could be traded out for a future pick. Regarding Davis, I want him, but I know he won\'t fall that far, but Poole is a viable SS as well. There are so many options via trade down, and via Howard trade. All of these need positions could be filled. [Edited on 6/4/2005 by LordOfEntropy] |

What? Nothing about a DT, did\'nt anyone notice that big hole all the RB\'s were running thru. I think we need (with the 1st) is a DT, LT, or SS. (all positions that if the starter goes down were screwed). And we have to get a good LB and CB somewhere. (they seem to like the 3rd round for LB\'s for some reason). But, most glaring need is DT, who knows maybe our LB\'s would\'nt be to bad if the line could stop the run sometimes.

Bryant is a decent backup. Whitehead is old, but a somewhat serviceable backup. Green wasn\'t that bad... but really it comes to a Sully gamble. (Don\'t forget that he came in 20lbs lighter, so there\'s a chance, however slim, no pun intended).
My reasoning revoles on the following point - If I had a choice between: A) getting Travis Johnson and leaving a sucky play at either LB or SS or B) gambling on Sully/Bryant/Whitehead and filling LB and SS with guaranteed playmakers I\'d take B. And I know it\'s a gamble. But it\'s a gamble to win. Not taking the gamble guarantees a loss. I -know- SS or LB will suck with current staff. I only -think- DT will suck with Sully/Whitehead/Bryant. Follow my reasoning? You don\'t have to agree with it, but do you follow it? I\'ll definitely give you that DT could (and will probably be) a a huge hole. But there\'s no other way to take a shot at being successful this year, IMO. EDIT ------------ Another point (a big one) I failed to mention is that we\'re stuck with Sully, whether we gamble on him or not. He plays or he rides the bench, we can\'t cut him. His cap hit is too tremendous to release, and certainly no one would trade for him. [Edited on 6/4/2005 by LordOfEntropy] |

I forgot about Holland, I like his play. I think he can be a solid starter.
I\'d take T. Davis in the first..i dont care if he plays olb or ss as long as we get our first rd pick on the field. Assuming we get a trade done with Howard, I think in the second we get a LB with the first pick and BPA for the second pick in the second. Then in the third take Ben. And hope Stinch can step up. Speaking of a Howard trade I\'d rather get a 1st next year for him than a 2nd this yr. Just deal him to a team that doenst have a good chance at doin very well and that pick could turn out to be a top ten, but you never know how the seaon will play out. |
I cant stand having to watch baseball, basketball and all the other balls that dont begin with foot.
