2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; ^^^^ I'll be interested to hear what Mike Mayock has to say about Landry (Boston college alum). On the surface, he appears to be about the same size as Kikaha....

You really think that would work for us? See, I think they're looking for a Cam Jordan clone, a book end...

Our defensive strategy seems to be big beef up front to contain the QB, RB lanes...

Sit back in nickel and dime coverages and let our athletic defensive backs make plays...

Linebackers are used to clean up, assist in coverage, and to create add'l pressure on the passer...

Again I'm interesting in hearing Mayock's analysis as we come closer to the draft. He's one of the most well-respected draft guys around.

I wasn't specifically speaking of Landry. Just guys we talk about here on the forum .

Understand Major; irregardless of the thumbs up or down from Mayock on the quality of a player, it's the proto-type of DE I was asking...

My point is differentiating between a hybrid DE/LB like Landry vs a Strongside, Big 4-3 DE as Cam is...

I'm asking do you think Payton/DA has a preferred ideal of a 6' 4"-6' 6" 275-290 lbs defensive ends on both ends?

And I'm saying that's what they want - to recreate the 2009 squad that had the DE tandem of Will Smith-Charles Grant...

Scout's Report: The Most Overrated Prospects in the 2018 NFL Draft Class | Bleacher Report

Some excerpts...

Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, SMU

Scout's Quote: "I liked this kid a lot last year, but he was average this year. I don't think he can separate. And he knows it too since he dropped out of the Senior Bowl."

Sam Hubbard, Edge-Rusher, Ohio State

Scout's Quote: "He's a good player, but he won't test well enough to go Round 1. Athletically, he's just average and is pretty stiff."

Mason Rudolph, Quarterback, Oklahoma State

Scout's Quote: "You have him in Round 2 and I just don't see it. He has a weak arm and plays in a bulls--t scheme. Bryce Petty all over again"

Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma

Scout's Quote: "I like Baker. We like Baker. But fans wanting him drafted first overall are off their rocker. I do think he'll go top 10 because he's a quarterback."

"When you get into one of these groups, there's only a couple of ways you can get out. One, is death; the other, is mental institutions."

2. Dallas Goedert, South Dakota State
3. Mike Gesicki, Penn State
4. Mark Andrews, Oklahoma
5. Will Dissly, Washington

Who the heck is Will Dissly?!? This was literally the first time I’ve seen his name mentioned.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

I’m so intrigued lately by this guy:

OLB/DE Lorenzo Carter, Georgia; Height: 6-6; Weight: 242 lbs

I would have him playing SLB in base and DE in sub-packages. His length and sideline-to-sideline range is incredible. Could he possibly last until the 3rd round or will he have a meteoric rise like former Bulldog Leonard Floyd?

Interesting fact: Carter was high school teammates with Alvin Kamara.
