2018 New Orleans Saints Mock Draft

Round 1
No. 27 (R1, 27) DT Taven Bryan, Florida; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 295 lbs.

Can play Defensive End or Defensive Tackle and has one of the quickest first steps into the opponents backfields in the draft...

My twin man crush is

No. 27 (R1, 27) LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise St.; Height: 6’ 4”, Weight: 245 lbs.

But I'm thinking he's not gonna be there, and he's who I'd really want...

Kind of a stretch for SS Justin Reid, but did the Coleman signing make that mute, or is it a smokescreen? Saints are good for that...

If DT Harrison Phillips, Stanford is on the board here, you grab him as while he's a hair slower than Bryan, he's a man-mauler along the defensive line...

The luxury pick here would be TE Dallas Goedert, who would quickly rise as a star with Brees and open up third down and Red Zone options with @CantGuardMike on the other side; my only problem is do we do the JG divorce again in five years; when I spend a first round pick, I want him for 8-10 years minimum...

Round 2
No. 59 (R2, 27) Traded this pick with 2017 NFL Draft (R7, 229) to San Francisco via Chicago for Pick 2017 NFL Draft (R3, 67) Pick, Selected RB Alvin Kamara ROTY

Would love to sign Norwell, kick Peat to LT full-time, and move Armstead and transition this guy behind Unger

C Frank Ragnow, Arkansas; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 319 lbs.

Round 3
No. 91 (R3, 27) LG Braden Smith, Auburn; Height: 6’ 6”, Weight: 303 lbs.
alt No. 91 (R3, 27) LB Josey Jewell, Iowa; Height: 6’ 2”, Weight: 236 lbs.
alt No. 91 (R3, 27) DT B. J. Hill, NC State; Height: 6’ 3”; Weight: 331 lbs.

Round 4
No. 127 (R4, 27) LG Alex Cappa, Humboldt St.; Height: 6’ 6”; Weight: 309 lbs.
or No. 127 (R4, 27) RG Colby Gossett, Appalachian St.; Height: 6’ 5”; Weight: 320 lbs.

Is there a piece we could move to get another fourth rounder? No. 127 (R4, 27) TE Dalton Schultz, Stanford; Height: 6’ 5”; Weight: 242 lbs.

Round 5
No. 147 (R5, 11) Traded LB Stephone Anthony to Miami for this pick
No. 147 (R5, 11) WR Dylan Cantrell, Texas Tech; Height: 6’ 3”; Weight: 212 lbs.
No. 147 (R5, 11) RB Roc Thomas, Jacksonville St.; Height: 5’ 11”; Weight: 189 lbs.

Either would boost their respective units into the NFL's elite...

No. 164 (R5, 27) LB Jack Cichy, Wisconsin; Height: 6’ 1”; Weight: 236 lbs. (+)

This is my sneaky pick of the draft; he has elite read/react skills, but will he be available or is his injury a fluke?

Otherwise No. 164 (R5, 27) TE Ryan Izzo, Florida St.; Height: 6’ 4”; Weight: 245 lbs. will be one of the steals of the draft...

Round 6
No. 189 (R6, 15) Traded RB Adrian Peterson to Arizona for this pick
No. 189 (R6, 15) CB Michael Joseph, Dubuque; Height: 6’ 1”; Weight: 189 lbs. would be a stash and develop pick; raw with all the physical ability in the world; would love AG to develop this guy...

No. 201 (R6, 27) CB Taron Johnson, Weber St.; Height: 5’ 11”; Weight: 189 lbs. would be a ditto for this CB as well and would give us unparalleled depth at the most prized position behind QB in the NFL...

Round 7
No. 245 (R7, 27) DE Justin Lawler, SMU; Height: 6’ 4”, Weight: 266 lbs. won't test well, but some guys can just play football and with an added fifteen pounds of NFL-trained muscle could spell and develop on Cam's side...

But I'd love to have that slot WR at No. 245 (R7, 27) WR Trey Quinn, SMU; Height: 6’ 0”; Weight: 202 lbs., but can't spend higher on a guy who won't get the grade and only has one year against questionable CBs...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
