Because they know his knees will not hold up long term and want something rather than letting him walk

That makes sense, but he's worth keeping as a rotational player

So why can't a player do both a 34 or 43? In a situational role, he may be good enough for us. It's not like teams ONLY play one defensive look.

That is the most obvious and the only reason I can think of outside of injury history for a trade.

Look at it this way, if we can get a player who can see the field more than those situational downs, would you make that trade?

Kikaha is too small to anchor the edge as a defensive end...

In his own career interest, he really should be playing for a 3-4 team...

The AP trade was great. The Saints win. Ingram and Kamara go off. AP runs for 130 and the Cards beat the Bucs. Kikaha is a one trick pony. If the outside rush doesn't get there, he's useless. Plus, if it meant seeing Muhammad suit up, then I would do it for a bag of chips.

New Orleans Saints: Hau'oli Kikaha

I remember reading somewhere that he had put on about 20 LBS... but he is still listed at 246.

Wrong, he's a 2 trick pony -
1) key in 3-4 situations
2) gets hurt a lot

:annoyed:

Smash, you're correct about the added way which at the beginning of the season was 263 lbs...

I just think that slows him down, plus that added weight on a recently reconstructed knee makes me wince...

If we could trade Kikaha for another Interior Defensive Lineman, 4-3 Linebacker, I'd just as soon exchange assets to gain for the team...

Get out the trade "Fake Nose, Glasses and Moustache" so the other teams don't know who he is!!!!

Re: Saints may trade Hau'oli Kikaha

Kikaha is not an every down DE in the NFL. He's not big enough. Kikaha is not a 3-4 LB in the NFL. He's not athletic enough. If you want to see ugly, ask him to cover. He was a good pass rusher in college. He has a big heart. He feasted on lesser talent in the PAC 12. There is no lesser talent in the NFL. And I'm just now getting to the bad knees.

Saints FO should proceed with caution ... at worst, Kikaha is very good depth.

Suspected we were the trade partner for Bowman; Bowman didn't want to go to the Saints...

From the looks at his stats on Sunday, AP may've been a one game pony...

Re: Saints may trade Hau'oli Kikaha

IF the Saints are serious about trading Kikaha in a player-for-player swap, I'd call the Bills about Marcell Dareus...

Not sure Kikaha would fit in the Bills 4-3, but they may want depth behind Jerry Hughes and to just move on...

Hell, Snead may even be moved and that's why he's still inactive and we're seeing Ginn get more touches lately...

Id be disappointed to loose Snead.
But he will get a good deal this summer and im not sure the saints will pay him. So for the right offer id let him go. Rather gets something than nothing.

Understood... not sure if he is worth the big $ he really wants. He deserved a big fat raise, just not top $.

Re: Saints may trade Hau'oli Kikaha

Kamara already replacing Snead as the move the stick, 1st down sure handed reciever. I like Snead but his big pay day from the saints dissipated with suspension

Giants could use a WR. Saw online something about a trade with NE for Kiakaha? It doesn't seem he is fitting in with our D. Get some value may be we could package several low rd pick to get a pick in the second rd back?

Don't like dealing with the Pats. You rarely get the better end of the deal. Be shocked if we got more than a 6th max for him

At this point, there could be some credence to that rumor. Alex Okafor is playing extremely well, and now Trey H is cutting into some of those snap counts. I would be opposed to making a move (trade) just to move. As of late Kikaha isn't beating the man in front of him on a consistent basis so I'm not so sure we'd stand a chance of getting much for him.

I'd definitely listen to offers though ;).

I loved and miss Brandin Cooks; but more and more, I'm glad we made that trade as Ramczyk looks like a franchise anchor on that line...

Doesn't matter! The Saints play multiple fronts under Dennis Allen. And not only multiple fronts, but multiple back ends too.

Kikaha as a situational pass rusher still makes sense. I would not trade him unless the deal was too good to pass up... and I don't see that happening.
