I think we put up another 50. Too many defects with the Bears.

Re: On To The Bears

This game is gonna be a test for the Saints run defense. Chicago runs the ball a lot. They're tied for 3rd for most rushing attempts over 6 games at 212. So far they're only had average success at 4.2 yards per and 4 rushing touchdowns. The defense could see long clock eating drives all day. We could see how the defensive rotations hold up.

I think it's funny that this author speaks highly of Chicago's defensive improvement but then says the Saints D has a long way to go. Chicago's allowing 21.6 points/game and the Saints are allowing 22.2. Only 6 tenths of one point difference.

Those averages include the points allowed on offense and special teams. I saw a stat earlier (can't find it now) that had the Saints' defense allowing the 2nd fewest points in the league over the past four games to only the Jags.

Re: On To The Bears

If they are truly one-dimensional like they say, or if we can MAKE them that way (force them into a passing game) they cannot win.

Another trap game? Surely not...

We clamped down last week after halftime adjustments. But, the best way to force the passing game is to jump out to an early lead. Make them play catch up. And then take advantage of the rookie.

That would take some research on his part. You're expecting too much from a sports journalist.

The Bears defense is really, really good. Guys like Akiem Hicks, Danny Trevathan, Adrian Amos and Eddie Jackson are having some phenomenal games. I look for it to be a little tougher to move the ball than we think.

Agreed - but Drew Brees isn't Cam Newton either.

I don't think we'll hang a 40 burger on that defense, but considering how horrible they are on offense we "should" be able to make some things happen.

Agreed, I expect about a 27-17 game.

No freaking way we even put over 30 on that Bears defense with their run oriented offense.

Do you butt-bumpers even watch football?:p

I think we hit 40 plus. Their defense is good but ours is no joke either.

At least there is a little more film on Trubisky for the Saints to watch than there was on Hundley!

Good luck with that one on Sunday in the dome. Especially going against a hot defensive team that can create turnovers, get to the QB and take pick 6's to the house on any given pass play.

I hope he throws in Latt's direction.

Everyone wanted to kill Carl Smith, but years later we learned it was Jim Mora who was scared to trust Hebert to pass the ball...

Spar with 'em early without the turnovers, then put em away and don't let up until the home flight's wheels are coming off the ground!!!

This going to be "hit you in da mouth" game. Really would've felt more comfortable if we had Walford. At least we still have Unger

#DaBears* D hasn't allowed an offensive TD in their last 9 qtrs & are the only NFL team to not allow an offensive TD over the past 2 wks. ⬇

Going to be a tough game and need D to show up. Bears D is good and I think QB Mitchell Trubisky could be a Smith type tough QB, he has leadership skills.

But guess what? The next opponent is a cupcake. The NFL ranks the Saints defense 10th-worst. The Saints stand fourth-worst on third down. They’re just outside the bottom 10 in passing yards and their average of allowing 4.9 yards per carry ranks second-worst in the league.

The Saints present a buffet of bad defense. The Bears ought to eat well. There’s more reason to expect more from Trubisky this week. There’s more reason to expect the Bears to let him do more.

And that goes from here on out. Especially from here on out. After the Saints, the Bears face the Packers, Lions and Eagles, all of whom have defenses nearly as bad as the Saints’. Then comes the 49ers, who are worse than all of them.

Re: On To The Bears

We have the 4th ranked offense in ppg and ypg...

We have the 23rd rated D in ypg and 16th rated D in ppg...

When we won the Superbowl we had the 20th ranked D in ppg and the 25th in ypg

In '09 we were ranked 3rd in the turnover margin; guess what we are this year so far? (5TH)

So we have a better defense than we had when we won the Superbowl!

We also have the 11th ranked D in total defense and the Bears are 21st...

lee909 10-25-2017 10:27 AM

Re: On To The Bears

That maybe true on paper

But redo them stats after week 2 and the team ranks far higher. No surprise a team that was full of new players and rookies struggle out the box.

Lost our best DT from ladt year
A new DE
3 new LBs
New safety and finding a starting CB

K Major 10-25-2017 10:28 AM

Re: On To The Bears

Have you guys watched any of the Chicago WR's as of late? If the Saints can effectively play good run D, make the rookie one dimensional the Bears are done. They have no down field threats.

I take no NFL team for granted but Trubisky won't beat (Bears rank 30# in offense) this Saints team with his arm.

Kick them while they are down and pound them into submission. Knock their mouth pieces out on every play and wear them down mentally and physically.

I'd get some WRs and OL before banking on Trubiskey, who should be fine after that...

Hopefully the Saints won't repeat the Detroit game and let the Bears hang around!
