Peter King on Jason Campbell
Could be that he finally \"got it\" and that he\'s a diamond in the rough, but I remain leary of him. In the end, a second round pick isn\'t necessarily too high for him, but the Saints simply have greater needs. I\'m not satisfied with AB, but I\'m willing to concede that we need to look at the defensive side of the ball first. Due to a solid (and underestimated) defense, Campbell rarely played from behind in 2004. This is obviously beneficial to ANY QB, especially when he has the luxury of Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams in the backfield to eat the clock. Earlier in his college career, Campbell simply didn\'t show much when playing from behind (as he\'d likely be doing OFTEN with the Saints defense). If nothing else complimentary can be said about AB, it often seems to fall his way when playing from behind. Call it luck, or whatever... I don\'t really have a fair opinion of A. McPherson (I\'ve already admitted I know very little about him). Would you say he\'s better than Campbell? |
