From NFLdraftcountdown.com:
Their latest mock draft has us grabbing Thomas Davis first, Kevin Burnett in the 2nd, and Kyle Orton in the third. I think that Davis and Burnett would be excellent picks. However, Orton brings me to my point. There has been a lot of talk about drafting a QB at some point in this draft to groom under Brooks as either a backup or possible replacement. What would be the earliest you guys would be OK with the Saints grabbing a signal caller and who are some names that you wouldn't mind seeing? Personally, I would say 4th round at the earliest. Some names I wouldnt mind seeing are Andrew Walter, David Greene, and Dan Orlovsky. |

Laflours(sp?) intrest me for some reason. He\'s a witty left hander, thats about all I know about the kid really. I just have a feeling that down the road when given a shot he will develope into a top QB. Like I siad I have nothing to back this just an instinct.
What round is he projected in 3rd or later? The list you have doenst seem bad. I have heared that they may look at Adrian Mcpherson at some point. He has some character issues but I thnk that they were blown out of proportion. I just wonder if he will be the next Brooks though. Has skills and will put up good numbers but thats it. No real leadership qualities. |
I cant stand having to watch baseball, basketball and all the other balls that dont begin with foot.

1st- rodgers or smith if they miraculously dropped
2nd- walter is the only one i would like to see taken, campbell could be a real possibility tho if there, whether wanting him or not. frye wouldn\'t be bad if dropping to there tho i\'d rather not. 3rd- walter would be great at 3rd 4th- mcpherson, but he\'ll probably go before then. they might be on the bandwagon for him with the 3rd too 5th- greene, orton, lefors. these could be real possibilities if none is taken earlier. |

Yesterday I was in chapters and I looked at the sporting news football , draft edition. This was outdated I see, because Oak still had the 7th pick. Anyways they had DJ at 15 with KC taking him and Alex Smith at 16 where the Saints would take him? I wouldn\'t mind seeing a QB drafted around the 3rd round as well. Going back on another thread ( SORRY ) I would be up for giving a 7th for getting JT back as well. Many ups in this scenario. Also a while back NFL ranked it\'s breakout QB\'s that will be in demand next season and Garrard from Jacks was tops and JT was second! Our back up situation need a definate upgrade, but I don\'t know if the draft is where we\'ll get an immidiate impact type of QB ready to step up if Brooks goes down! |

QB is another position that I felt we should\'ve gotten a decent FA. I was thinking of Mike McMahon this season, and Rattay last year.
I didn\'t know what happened to the promise that Bouman was showing in his first season here. People were hollerin for JT last year, but didn\'t the Pack cut him loose? |

I agree 100%. A few people here were taken with Mcmahon, but JT knows the playbook already and was well liked.
Actually I was wrong about a 7th for JT, it\'s a 6th. He\'s a restricted FA, so if NO was to sign him, they would have to compensate GB with a 6th. Think of it this way, We already got Mckenzie, and by getting JT back it makes the trade even better , exchanging JT for a 7th and keeping him. Also if we\'re going to draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th, we could use that higher pick for anpther position instead, and if we still want another QB the option for a later round still exists. Here\'s a link for NFL.com stating the FA lists and their compensation value: http://www.nfl.com/freeagency/nfc-restricted |

i think j.t. signed the tender from gb this week.
just one of those things that makes me scratch my head and wonder though. why didn\'t they. he certainy could have walked in an adjusted to whatever changes there are in the system fast. |

i like drafting orton, but i don\'t know about going in the third after a qb, unless we can address tackle earlier via extra picks in the second.... orton would have been a first round pick if the draft was in october, but his team started falling apart after that... i really think that our strategy should be (in order), ss, lb, ot, qb, then best player available after that... i would be smitten with a trade to acquire more picks in the 2nd and/or 3rd rds b/c of the amount of talent that will be there.

i think getting o\'sullivan would be genious esp. for the 6th rd. pick we\'d be forced to give up... think of it this way.... who could we possibly get in the 6th that would be even a fraction of the talent of o\'sullivan... plus, he\'s a fan fave and he knows the system.... why hasn\'t this been done yet? i guess there is a moral implication to trying to swipe the guy you traded just one year before, but all is fair in love, war, and football....
