this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don’t have any issue with Sheldon’s performance this season. He’s playing more NT and DE than just the 3-technique. We’ve been complaining about needing a DT that can eat up double-teams but for some reason when Rankins does it ...

I don’t have any issue with Sheldon’s performance this season. He’s playing more NT and DE than just the 3-technique. We’ve been complaining about needing a DT that can eat up double-teams but for some reason when Rankins does it he’s a bust. I don’t get it.

"The best example came during last week’s 30-10 win over the Bucs.

Three offensive linemen blocked Rankins while he played nose tackle. Tampa Bay’s center and two guards shielded Rankins from Jameis Winston in the second quarter.

That left Jordan with a one-on-one matchup on the edge. Jordan plowed through and sacked Winston on third down to force a punt."
