Panthers sign Freddie Jones

Updating previous reports, ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the deal TE Freddie Jones signed with the Carolina Panthers is a one-year contract worth $690,000.

Don't know if anyone put this out there, but that is a very underrated signing. Jones has been a decent NFL tight end. He was pretty good initially in San D., but unspectacular in Arizona, although he did manage to average over 45 catches the past 3 seasons there. This is a interestign signing cause a lot of drafts had Carolina looking at Heath Miller with their first round pick. With tight end addressed(another need area filled for them), they can look at a Troy Williamson at WR to go with Steve Smith, or a RT. More bad news for us. :(
