this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Howard is not taking us to the Superbowl next year. No, but he\'s not stoppin gus from getting there either. Nor is he stoppin gus from signing other players (if you believe that the Saints agreed to that $33 million ...

Bottom line - Darren Howard, even injured, is the BEST DE on our team. Don\'t believe me, compare his stats to Grant\'s or Smith\'s. |

P.S.--- continuing the comparison in stats.... Howard had 4 forced fumbles, while Grant had 3. But Grant also had an interception while Howard had 0. Grant also had 7 pass deflections while Howard only had 1. Charles Grant had 11.5 tackles for a loss, while Howard only had 2.5. [Edited on 21/4/2005 by TheDeuce] |

first off, never say never........especially when it involves the saints....you\'re saying what i\'m trying to say backwards.
it\'s about timing..............when to do it............the saints do not have a good history of that, but they have made a few good moves.... just off the top of my head, ricky was gone and did\'nt know it. duece just happened to fall to us.....the vikings did the right thing as far as moss. as talented as he is, in my eyes he\'s a quiter........just as ab sits one step above his teammates......you can have em both.........and you enforce what i say by saying free agency is all about proven players going to other teams.....so, what\'s the problem? i\'m just saying let em come here........smitty p.s. if howard leaves, don\'t be surprised to see him in the superbowl, smitty |

Nice call the Deuce, besides the fact that what WhoDat chooses to ignore is even if we did sign Howard to that long term deal, his cap figure would kill us after 2-3 years. Then we will be watching player walk cause Howard id too old to trade, and he won\'t retire or renegotiate. That sounds like a good plan.

Um smitty, if we trade Howard to Dallas, he won;t be in the Superbowl. If we trade him to Wash, he won;t be in the Superbowl. If we trade him to the Eagles, I guess you may say you were right even though they were in the Superbowl this year, and have been the NFC champ the 3 years before. Are you just going by the Delhomme example? Bulger hasn\'t been to the Superbowl yet, although he does get to the playoffs. Glover hasn\'t, Sammy Knight hasn\'t. And thay are all damn good players who have left. Roaf hasn\'t. So that onyl seems to stand for Jake.
