I just don\'t think that DJ will work well for us especially if he shoots blocks like they say because unless something drastic happens with our D-Line he will have a lot of free linemen looking for him. The only way I say we draft him is if he falls to us. If Rogers or Jones falls to us I think that will be a must pick.

The bottom line is this...the Saints will be getting close to market value for him. Face it, Darren Howard is an above average player and I wouldnt mind having him around another year, but the Saints have a lot of holes and to get two first rounders, your options are countless. If someone you want is there, take him, if not, trade down and pick up more picks. I think it is a great idea.

:weepy: pleeez don\'t give away howard and a 3rd for a #20. I can\'t see one player in this draft worth it nor can I see 2 players at 16 & 20 worth the risk. not even DJ

So you would rather him walk away next year for nothing? You know they cant franchise him again next year with deals for McAllister and Bentley upcoming. Not to mention McKenzie. The best the Saints can do is get something close to value for him, use the money to redo McKenzie, lock up Deuce and LeCharles...and maybe grab one or two guys out of the draft. That seems fair to me given the Saints situation.

I dont think that would be that bad of an idea. That would put DH value at 670pts. Higher than PBuch but not as high at the 720pts i mentioned earlier. I think it is close though.
I like the idea of 16- Davis 20-Brown/Barnes 40-BPA Dont think trading up would have good value. Its all contengent on who is there, risers and fallers, because we all know that someone will fall and someone will be picked before everyone thinks. I dont like the idea of not haveint a 3rd though, bc i wouldnt mind seeing A. Macpherson taken there, but he amy fall to 4th rd. There are others that will still be available in the 3rd that could contribute. |
I cant stand having to watch baseball, basketball and all the other balls that dont begin with foot.

I think if we could get a 1st round pick for Darren, that would be awesome! 2 first-rounders is pretty solid and I think we would be able to address two positions (LB and OT, or LB and CB). However, I don\'t think that trading up with two first rounders to get a higher first rounder would be a good idea. For some reason I just can\'t get my mind off of that sullivan trade. At the time, I thought Sullivan would be good, but I didn\'t think that he was worth two first rounders; I don\'t think anybody in this draft is...

I truly believe they can recieve at the very least with Dallas or any other team a second rd. pick w/out giving up a 3rd during the draft. Then they could pick or trade that 2nd rd pick.

But wouldn\'t you rather get another first round draft pick and only have to give up a third round pick? That makes no sense to say that you\'d rather not have a first rounder, but take a 2nd so that you could keep a third round pick. The first round means better players, isn\'t that what we\'re trying to do here? If we had two first rounders and a second round pick I think we\'d be in pretty damn good shape, even without a third round pick.

I don\'t feel we should have to give up a third & DH for 20. I just don\'t see Kaliff Barnes, Jammal Brown or any other player you can pick at #20 worth DH (a proven above average player) & a 3rd. That is how I am looking at it. Like I said B4 i\'d rather at worst just a 2nd rd pick w/out losing a 3rd. I mean that is where we had selected Howard in the 1st place. a simple way to look at it i\'ll prefer 4 more players instead of 3 [Edited on 22/4/2005 by nola_swammi] [Edited on 22/4/2005 by nola_swammi] |
