Re: Loomis haunted by two Super Bowl near misses
You people who think we could have beat Philly in Philly should consider that teams with an indoor stadiums are now 0-11 in conference championship games played outdoors.
NFC 2017 Philly over Minnesota 38-7 2006 Chicago over Saints 39-14 2004 Philly over Atlanta 27-10 2000 Giants over Minnesota 41-0 1991 Washington over Detroit 41-10 1987 Washington over Minnesota 17-10 AFC 2014 NE over Colts 45-7 2003 NE over Colts 24-14 1995 Pittsburgh over Colts 20-16 1979 Pittsburgh over Oilers 27-13 1978 Pittsburgh over Oilers 34-5 This is why I wanted the Falcons to beat Minnesota so bad. People actually thought I was nuts but the way to making it to the Superbowl is in the dome. |

That 2011 team though ... boy, juggernaut is right. The sting of that year is far greater because we were expected to win it all & had the pieces in place. Giants wanted no part of NO. It was a bad match up & no team wanted to visit the dome. Build on another great draft class, acquire key FA's & stay relatively healthy. 2018 could be special . |

Both the Vikings and 49ers losses were brutal. I think the Vikings loss will stick with me forever because I know we would've beaten the Eagles and taken revenge on the Patriots!

Re: Loomis haunted by two Super Bowl near misses
We did not overachieve this season; if anything, we've underachieved the previous three seasons; having a HOF quarterback of Brees caliber and not have better results has been inexcusable, indefensible...
Failures of this team are directly attributable to poor personnel moves rubberstamped by the Mickster, pass-happy play-calling by Payton, and lack of competent defensive coaching... Hiring Jeff Ireland to oversee scouting and personnel moves, running the ball more limiting the exposure of the defense, and hiring Glenn, then Nolan and Nielsen is why we saw an improvement... The real question that local media d*cks have failed to ask is why did it take this long? |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
