Re: Drew Brees: Of course I’m not leaving New Orleans, I’m a Saint for life
I hope you are right RSII.....I want to think that as well, but something tells me that money will talk, especially as this will likely be his last NFL contract. I love the guy, but Drew is all about Drew.

Yes, you are correct, money does talk and that is exactly why he will never leave The Saints or New Orleans. Brees makes more from his endorsements, commercials and business ventures than he does playing football. That doesn't mean he won't be trying to get as much as he can, but it will only be with the Saints.![]()
And I seriously doubt this will be Brees' last contract. I expect a series of essentially one year extensions for the remainder of his career. |

And sure i think we should pay him a decent salary but I don't think being the highest paid whatever is his main focus right now. |

Restaurants are horrible investment businesses. If you own a couple of them you may be able to make a nice living at about 200k a year but that’s only if you are very hands on. It’s not a type of business where you can just have someone else handle and make any money. He has those because he likes the food and wanted to bring it to New Orleans. It’s just fun for him. Probably doesn’t generate any real revenue. Not anything meaningful to him anyway. I didn’t know we were privy to any other investments he may have. I always hear about him and politics. He’s stated interest in it but hasn’t said anything about it being on a local level. |

I don't think he will take a 1 year deal and someone will offer a 3.

Re: Drew Brees: Of course I’m not leaving New Orleans, I’m a Saint for life
He took essentially a one year deal last time and it doesn't matter if someone else offers an eight year deal. There is no logical reason for him to leave and EVERY reason for him to stay. This isn't Joe Blow, journeyman backup. He is totally invested far deeper than an NFL contract into New Orleans and Louisiana.

Drew has a team now that showed this year can make a serious run, he signs a 2 year deal, no drama.
