Brees is not taking a pay cut, nor should he so long as he's producing as he is...

I'd agree with being cautious in guaranteed money, and I don't think Brees would have a problem with it...

He's a competitor and he's not going to hurt the team - it's not in Drew Brees' nature...

There's is obvious decline in his throwing strength, but his game moxie, saavy is still elite...

If he's among the league best, you should pay for what you get...

Unger couldn't stay healthy and has been a rock for us. Armstead is devastating on outside runs and screens.

Buffalo game and...anyone? How many games has he been unavailable the last two seasons alone?

Give me a rock for a minimum of 14 games and I'll take slightly less in athleticism as Brees & this O will compensate...

You are right. JP are wrong.

Plus, by giving Kelemete this opportunity, you to keep him at a friendly cap number & you send msg when you work hard as he has, you'll get rewarded in New Orleans...[/B]
Having Peat @ T ... meh. Andrus has become a true IMPACT player at guard. I trust the Saints front office will locate another (see Warford) "youngish" right tackle in FA. And you don't have to pay top dollar to get another solid Warford type - impact.

I'm all on board for bringing back Kelemente. Reality is that a team with worse O line issues may offer Senio ridiculous money that we can't match. You still have #9, Okafor, Coleman, possibly Vacarro and a host of others that you have to pay.

Saints have coaches who know how to develop O linemen. We'll be fine.

That's not going to happen with the investment in the current lineup of Armstead ($13.5m) - Peat ($3.62m, 4th year rookie contract, 1R option) - Unger ($8m) - Warford ($9m) - Ramczyk ($2m)...

What I'd like to see is Armstead traded to someone like the Colts or Jets for a high second round pick, restructuring his deal to limit the dead cap money or just designate the trade post 6/1 and take the one time $3.2m dead money hit...

Move Peat to LT, his natural position, find out if he's the real deal or not and you still have the last year of his rookie contract, plus you've got an add'l option year on him if he works out and you need time to make a happy for him & happy for team contract...

You can then sign Kelemete as the LG and commit a $4-5mil/annum contract incentivized with All-Pro et al bonuses...

Then you can draft as many as three offensive linemen to come in and learn, compete, and push the veterans and if one happens to stand out and win the job from Kelemete, then you still have a modest base contract for one of the better swing offensive linemen in the league...
This. Armstead isn’t getting any better. Put kelemente in on spot and play him every down and he will continue to develop. Armstead is only good for half a season anyway.
