Saints could lose invaluable 'sixth man' Senio Kelemete as free agent
If the NFL had a “sixth man” of the year award ... well, it would go to Nick Foles or Case Keenum. The quarterbacks get all the love.
But if they had an “underappreciated sixth man” award, it might go to New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Senio Kelemete. ![]() Full story:Saints could lose invaluable 'sixth man' Senio Kelemete as free agent - New Orleans Saints Blog- ESPN |

Kelemete saved our butts so many times this season. How do you calculate his value though when it comes to a new contract? His expiring deal was 2 yr/$2.7 million.

Re: Saints could lose invaluable 'sixth man' Senio Kelemete as free agent
Kelemete is gonna want a legitimate opportunity to start and make starter's money...
That's not going to happen with the investment in the current lineup of Armstead ($13.5m) - Peat ($3.62m, 4th year rookie contract, 1R option) - Unger ($8m) - Warford ($9m) - Ramczyk ($2m)... What I'd like to see is Armstead traded to someone like the Colts or Jets for a high second round pick, restructuring his deal to limit the dead cap money or just designate the trade post 6/1 and take the one time $3.2m dead money hit... Move Peat to LT, his natural position, find out if he's the real deal or not and you still have the last year of his rookie contract, plus you've got an add'l option year on him if he works out and you need time to make a happy for him & happy for team contract... You can then sign Kelemete as the LG and commit a $4-5mil/annum contract incentivized with All-Pro et al bonuses... Then you can draft as many as three offensive linemen to come in and learn, compete, and push the veterans and if one happens to stand out and win the job from Kelemete, then you still have a modest base contract for one of the better swing offensive linemen in the league... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

We had an elite offense with Peat - Kelemete - Unger - Warford - Ramczyk. Why not save cap room and set the line up for the next three, four years NOW? And with the cap room we can sign needed depth for both the offensive line and front seven of the defense; you and I've beat the drum for the front seven ad nauseum... Plus, by giving Kelemete this opportunity, you to keep him at a friendly cap number & you send msg when you work hard as he has, you'll get rewarded in New Orleans... |

I'm all on board for bringing back Kelemente. Reality is that a team with worse O line issues may offer Senio ridiculous money that we can't match. You still have #9, Okafor, Coleman, possibly Vacarro ![]() Saints have coaches who know how to develop O linemen. We'll be fine. |
