He's made some plays already with the Texans, two in particular were called back because of unrelated penalties by teammates across the field... And now, how important is that blown fourth round pick on the Florida State Tackle who'd only played the position one year?!? Payton puts too much, way too much weight into coaching references... Open your eyes, quit trying to impress in the coaching community and look at the film and look closely at the person's character; Strief had to be brought in to motivate Rick Leonard!?! There still was talent on the board far more worthy of selection than Leonard... |

Re: 2018 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
So Dennis Allen has Demario Davis, a Mike, playing Will; A.J. Klein, a Mike or Sam, at Sam; and Alex Anzalone, a Mike or Will at Mike; sometimes ponder if coaches do it as a "my turf" thing...

I've been a fan of the Saints for over forty years and I remember how hopeless our franchise seemed until Brees and Payton came to town... As I've stated and admitted in recent threads, I was wrong to criticize Brees for his max contracts and not compromising friendlier team cap numbers... The dysfunction in the Saints front office where personnel decisions are rubber-stamped for one decision-maker, Payton, is why this team handicaps its own success... And we have a local press who will not criticize Payton in full, for press-credential retaliation and restriction of access, as he would be criticized, rightfully, in other markets... I now realize the enormity of Brees' impact and contribution to this franchise and that deserves more weight than Payton's when we finally close the books of this era of Saints football... The fatal flaw in Payton's tenure is a failure of the Saints FO to properly delegate responsibilities and ensure that delegation with checks and balances and limit one man's self-handicapping personnel moves... The team is winning and doing well, despite the dysfunction of the Saints front office - Love that we're winning, but it's also important to get it right and record it as such... |
