2018 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; JP -- What do you do with Andrus Peat ? He's owed 9.6M . Injury aside, he's been average at best in 2018. At 9M? No way....

So what's available that would be an improvement?

In Free Agency, I think you definitely bring in a veteran guard for depth if no other reason...

Then, if a veteran or Clapp or someone steps up and makes a serious push, then you have options on Peat...

I'm bullish on Dalton Risner in the draft at 62, but will he be there? what if a greater value falls?

I think we'll see Peat get an extension offer with a lower cap number, but high percentage of guaranteed money...

If you can improve the position, get a more natural guard at the spot, then you can move Peat in a trade...

If I'm GM, I'd move Armstead for a high second rounder; extend Peat with the extension I mentioned and move him to LT...

Then, if I hit on a standout Left Guard AND Right Tackle in the draft and they're the goods, starting and playing the first season, I'd move Peat in trade and Ramczyk to LT...

We're really seeing how much losing Kelemete costs us a great deal of flexibility and leverage...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

+1 on the feedback. Always respect your insight.

I like Peat however not at 9M. IMO he was the 5th best player on the Saints O line for 2018. His hand placement is average & not the most nimble feet. On Bobby H radio show a while back, he claims the Saints were apparently (not sure if this is valid) trying to trade Peat for Patrick Peterson but they were much more interested in Armstead.

But yes, I agree depth is key at the position.

I like Ramon Foster in FA. Very good in the run blocking dept.

As far as the draft ... I hope we take the best player available that falls to us @ pick #62.

Hell, if that were true, I'd move Armstead for Patrick Peterson in a NY second...
