Let me throw out some names

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; This is truly hilarious from the guy who was saying before the draft we needed to trade up for DJ, and made threads about it. You just burned yourself. You wouldn\'t even know Jamaal Brown\'s name if we had drafted ...

I\'ll be the 1st one to amdit (and I said it before the draft) that I didn\'t know much about any of the college players. That includes DJ.

But, after readig the \"opinion\" of many experts, it seems like Jamal Brown was a better selection than DJ. I know you don\'t like hearing anything negative about DJ, but I\'m not the one saying the stuff about DJ.

I\'ve heard NO ONE say Jamal Brown isn\'t ready for the NFL. I\'ve heard quite a few who are questioning DJ\'s ability to handle the NFL game. Including Coach Dick Vermil.

With the way DJ dropped down the board ... there was a reason why!! Obviously if teams thought he was the next Ray Lewis, then he wouldn\'t have dropped out of the top 10!! That\'s a fact, Jack!!

I have no real insight of my own on any of the guys who were drafted. I never say DJ play. I never saw Jamal Brown play.

But, going on what the experts have to say: They like Jamal Brown as the safer pick.

You\'re entitled to your opinion. I just don\'t take it over the expert\'s opinions. And even they are wrong.

Mel Kiper I am not. I\'m not trying to fool anyone with my knowledge of any of the players that were drafted.

My opinions are based strictly on the opinions of the so-called experts.

I\'m no expert like you, saintwhodi!!

Wait, then why would you say we needed to trade up for a player you admit you know little about? Do you normally just say off the wall stuff with limited knowledge? Wait, don\'t answer that.

Did you read what these \"experts\" said before or after we drafted Brown and passed on DJ. The limited knowledge you had on DJ certainly was enough for you to make threads about not just drafting him, BUT ACTIVELY TRADING UP FOR HIM.

I\'ve heard NO ONE say Jamal Brown isn\'t ready for the NFL. I\'ve heard quite a few who are questioning DJ\'s ability to handle the NFL game. Including Coach Dick Vermil.
You just admitted you know little about any player of the draft, but let\'s say you knew this about Brown before the draft, why would you STILL suggest trading up for DJ on limited knowledge.

saintwhodi --

I wanted to get DJ. But all of that was based on what many of you had to say about the guy. But most of my reason for wanting to get DJ was because he was considered the best LB in the \'05 draft.

But after hearing about how weak the draft was for LB, it really wasn\'t a ringing endorsement for DJ. And after finally seeing DJ on film, he didn\'t look that impressive at all.

So, no, I did not want DJ based on hours of film study. Hell, I never even saw him play. But those experts that did see him play and who did watch hours of film on him, well ... they have some pretty big concerns about him.

Those same experts really have NO concerns about Jamal Brown. Which is probably why he was selected ahead of DJ. And he was going to get selected ahead of DJ ( by the Panthers) even if we wouldn\'t have picked Jamal Brown.

Would I have been upset if we had of drafted DJ? Hell no!! I would have loved the pick. But I would have some concerns knowing what I do now. I know much more about DJ today than what I did. Still, I think he\'ll be a pretty good player. I don\'t know if he\'ll ever be a probowler though. I\'m pretty sure Jamal Brown will be.

Note: Everything I just posted was based on the \"opinion\" of the draft experts.

$50. If you want that, I am down. First to make the pro bowl right? Is there gonna be a one goes down with a career ending injury clause? What\'s the parameters? But I am down.

How many years did we draft a pro-bowler in the first round?

Over those years, how many pro-bowlers did any team draft in the first round? My guess, and this will be naive, is one.

Whodi, you are fond of ratios, what is our ratio of pro-bowlers to non in the 1st? What are the other teams? Now that would be helpful.

Many other teams passed on those guys too.

Sure, I understand the \"what if\" nature of this \"guys we could have had\" thing, but I am never really sure what the point is?
