Round 7--Jimmy Verdon
Jimmy Verdon Grade: 3.3
Position: DE Class: Sr School: Arizona St. Conference: Pac-10 Ht., Wt.: 6-3, 280 40 Time: 5.06 Selected by: New Orleans Saints Round 7, pick 18 (232 overall) Grading System BIO: Three-year starter who.s won varying degrees of All-Conference honors since his sophomore campaign. Senior totals included 40/8.5/2 when he played defensive tackle, after 44/6/3 as a junior. POSITIVES: Quick, explosive defensive lineman who could develop into a left end in the NFL. Gets off the snap with a great first step, bends his knees and plays with leverage. Displays good hand technique protecting himself, wedges inside of blocks and quickly gets to the action. Moves well laterally, displaying speed in pursuit. Used at defensive end during the Senior Bowl and displayed great speed off the edge. NEGATIVES: Undersized and driven off the line by opponents. Marginal run defender. ANALYSIS: An alert lineman and instinctive football player, Verdon offers decent upside for the next level. His combination of athleticism, explosion, and smarts could help him see action as a rookie in the NFL. PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...ers/64059.html |

This is just depth for when we trade Howard. Smith, Grant, Young, Sullivan, Whitehead, Bryant, Leisle, Green, and now Jefferson and this guy. I think we will be able to rotate linemen just fine.

Those other guys you\'re all mentioning may be undrafted. If so, we can get them still.

Round 7--Jimmy Verdon
What surprised me was that yesterday Haslett made a big deal about passing on Cody because: \"He\'s a defensive end, we aren\'t taking a defensive end.\"
I wonder if they are going to convert him to a DT? Or if he\'s just a camp body? Oooops, thinking one thing, typing another [Edited on 24/4/2005 by BrooksMustGo] |
