Re: Lamar Jackson's speed is blinding some to his promise as NFL draft prospect
Aikman and Buck took Paytons "ego boost" of Taysom Hill and tried to turn it into news worthy reporting.
What was Payton supposed to say? "Yeah we have a young guy behind Brees but he kinda sucks....." Payton was obviously trying to give Hill a confidence boost, Aikman and Buck read far too much into that. |
Re: Lamar Jackson's speed is blinding some to his promise as NFL draft prospect
Hill is a big fast athletic kid that check all the metrics boxes and maybe able to play QB in the NFL but he is a project that needs a lot of work to be starter ready. In today's NFL practice reps are too few and far between to be able to develop players that require lots of reps . I would not say it can't happen.BUT it ain't likely. Every one talks about making Lamar Jackson a WR? I would love to see hill play TE.
Jackson needs a coach willing to build his offensive game around his unique talents. It just so happens that Payton is the kind of coach that just might fit the bill. I am not sure that drafting Jackson is the best use of our draft pick, however it would be fun to see how he could be used in the NFL and learning behind Brees would seem ideal place for him to learn his trade and work on his weaknesses to get ready to replace the irreplaceable. |
