this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Not sure about him contributing much. He put up decent numbers but most of those he was wide open. Looked more like a Pryor situation. Bad team where nobody was really covering him with authority most of the time....

Mitch Trubisky needs all the weapons he can get. I'd be surprised if the Bears don't match (they have a good amount of cap space) the tender.

I doubt they’d cover him with any authority in our offense either. There’s Thomas and Kamara to worry about with Ginn stretching the field. He should be able to break loose in the slot. He runs good routes.

Before Graham, we'd line Colston in the slot to convert those third downs and red zone conversions; below is a great article on this... https://www.si.com/2013/09/18/marque...rald-deep-dive ...main beneficiary is Colston...New Orleans’ formations put him in the slot, which does two things: 1) It naturally accentuates his size (6-4, 225 pounds) and ability to pull down balls that are thrown away from his body, and 2) It matches him against a safety or linebacker—especially when the Saints are in standard 2-WR personnel, which, with multidimensional players like Darren Sproles and Jimmy Graham, is more often than most high-flying passing attacks. In short, when Colston is on the outside against faster cornerbacks, he is a middle-tier starting wide receiver. When he is inside against slower safeties and linebackers, he ascends to Fitzgerald’s level... Now the Saints have shown they're pretty committed to solving this recent third down, red zone problem by spending 10mil/2 years on Meredith... And the Bears have a tough decision to make as they have to see if they can get that kind of return on their money from Meredith in the Bears' offensive scheme... Either way, should we get that dynamic Tight End to add to the mix, the Saints 3rd down efficiency should return to its historic levels... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
